He's selfish and doesn't care about his students. During our recital he ran around stage drawing attention to himself like an 8 year old boy, most people were too busy watching him to notice the music. Never taught us anything about the music we were playing, and often contradicted himself in class. A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. Terrible.

Complete space case. The day before our recital he didn't even have the brain power to realize we should run the set list. The students were constantly reminding him to take the class seriously. He is great at contradicting himself in order to prove whatever point he is trying to make in the moment. DO NOT TAKE unless you have unlimited patience.

Look, here's the deal. Kenwood Dennard, back in the day, played with Jaco, Pat Martino, Miles Davis, etc. He's a VERY funny and nice guy, however, he is a TERRIBLE teacher. Don't waste a class on him. He's always hanging in 1140 basement if you wanna talk to him. He's just bizarre, and wastes class time on nonsense. Dissapointed in all classes.

Kenwood is an "out there" guy. Once he gave me an old shirt of his as a reward for playing well in class. I would recommend him more for drum lab 3 than private lessons. He's a nice guy

PIPCxxx Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

I was so excited to take lessons with Kenwood and when I did I didn't know I could be so disappointed. He missed more classes then he came to. He wasted my time on stupid rudiments. I didn't even sit at a kit until about 3 weeks before then end of the semester. I hated my lessons. Go to Bob Tamagni instead.

Kenwood's style of teaching differs from most in that he concentrates on HOW you learn and how you realize the material. New things normally come from old things seen from a new prospective.

He was nice at the beginning of semester, and then slowly turned irritable... he seemed to like certain students more than others. He made me feel uncomfortable when I was playing. He did not encourage me or motivate me in any way. Unless you are already really good at drums, do not take him.

i always wanted to study with kenwood, and when i finally did, i was a little disappointed. he was ALWAYS late, and only worked on proficiency material. i was actually hoping he's hip me to his ideas about pocket and groove, but he didn't. but he does have some great teaching techniques and gave me some useful tips that i will use forever.
