I've had him for a few courses and Poundstone is an amazing person and teacher. He is a great professor who is very passionate about everything he teaches. As long as you make the effort you will be fine. The key is to read his study guides and articles they are a perfect map to his tests and most of the test questions come directly from there

Course is lecture based. The reading is extensive but worth the time. You do have to work to get a good grade in this class. The tests are challenging unless you've done the reading. Study guides are long but helpful. And, Tom will answer any question you have. Brilliant man and well worth the effort to take a course with him.

If you are searching for a teacher that will challenge you and force you to think about the subject matter at hand, Tom Poundstone is the teacher for you. His lectures might not come across as clear, but he does everything in his power to be available and understanding to your needs as a student. Great teacher, took two classes with him!

HE lectures the majority of the time, but just by listening you can get the gist of what's most important to him. Then he tests on exactly that. He's really responsive to email, and will answer as many questions as you have. Although nerdy, very passionate about his subjects.

I had ZERO interest in CATHOLIC ETHICS but managed to get a B out of his class and develop a super strong bond with this man. He's difficult, his study guides are super long and yes he does ramble. I did very little work from day to day but spent HOURS studying the study guide when he handed it out and got solid grades. Great guy - hilarious.

Poundstone is a great guy, but a very challenging teacher. If you enjoy learning a LOT, then Tom is the guy for you. The study guides were ridiculously long and every night there was a ton of reading. He does try to help you succeed though. Study hard for tests because they are pretty hard.

Fantastic Teacher, possible one the best at Saint Mary's. Knowledgable and helpful. Relates to students and makes class worth wild. If you have the chance to take him, challenge yourself and go for it!

He is a professor that loves to hear himself talk. The readings are about 50 pages a night and the study guides are about 40 pages long. The tests are made up of true and false and essay. You will do fine on the essays if you read the study guide, however the true and false are just random facts he says in class.

this class is hell of hard because of the massive amount of readings. if you have a life outside of school i suggest you not take this class. there is no ****ing if you dont know the readings.

Don't take this professor! He thinks he's the greatest thing on the earth and lets you know it! His tests are so hard and his study guide is a novel! He writes a lot of his own articles that are bland and boring and then tests you on his ideas! He is the biggest narcissist! It is absolute PAIN sitting through his lectures!

A brilliant man. His class is hard though. it does require lots of reading and studying. However, I know more about Medical Ethics than I ever thought I would learn in a semester. He is my role model!

THIS CLASS IS HARD!!! toms a funny and great guy, but the material in these classes is ridiculous. Millions of pages of reading about topics so complicated you want to rip your brain out. the tests are also very hard. he gives out a 50 page study guide and unless you memorize every part of it you will fail his tests.

Went to Ital Janterm with Tom. The guy knows EVERYTHING! Also took a theology course with him. TONS of reading. Kinda boring. Tests were back breakers. But he's an awsome person.
Jan Term
Tom's the best! He even let me use his shower in Jan term when all we had was cold water in ours. Fun, smart, but challenging. Also, helped me finish my degree!
