Really great lecturer, always leaving you wanting more. Was a true expert, and challenged the way the subject matter is traditionally thought of. Grading was generous. No essay component, just 6 reading responses and midterm/final.

Class split up 33/33/33 - Midterm/Final/Section. Section had 6 2pg reading responses that were only checked to make sure you had done them. The teachers british which always makes class more interesting. However, if you dont have much of an interest in Art, and more of an interest in classics (like me) this class will bore you to tears

I found his lectures very interesting and easy to follow. He is probably one of the nicest professors I've ever had and was always willing to answer questions. I loved the class even though art history isn't my major. The combination of dimmed lights and his British accent made for a very soothing lecture atmosphere.

Interesting angle, each lecture argues a specific idea, pretty engaging, and not heavy on reading or writing as many other art history classes are. Enjoyed the class though ancient art is not usually my favorite and ended up with a great gra

Methodical, concise lecturer, often considered slow, but really fascinating if you take the time to appreciate his subject and lexicon as he rolls ahead. Loves his students and material; welcoming outside of lecture; good Brit humor; relates stories from primary sources that feel like storytime; lov
