Great subject, but April was full of two massive research papers and a take home 15 page final. Be warned: no work in the first half. After, the assignments pile up fast! No extra credit or curve. Do all the questions weekly. She rarely responds to emails, so make sure the TF does. The content is amazing, but the end was so rushed and packed.

Amazing class! Bare in mind that the workload is fairly light for the first half then pretty heavy for the last half. The first assignment is a bit tedious, but you'll love the second assignment and the final. Fair grader, lots of opportunities for extra credit, engaging class discussions, and the opportunity to be creative in a scientific field.

O'Connor knows how to teach,her classes are really interesting&funny.For the midterm u have to know a lot,it is only 3Qs but u have to include everything u've read.On papers u will also have to include everything so that she won't take of points.She will also make u speak in class even though u haven't marked.But a very interesting class and prof!!

The class had potential to be very interesting but the readings have a way of bogging it down and making it very confusing. Her teaching style is definitely unique, not really my favorite. She's a REALLY tough grader and its not that easy to get an A. Beware: she lies about what tests will be like. KNOW EVERYTHING. 3 question midterm!

She's AWESOME! The material is super interesting, her teaching style is laid back and she's helpful and understanding. Tests are also straightforward, and class average was always very high. Definitely take this class if you are interested in anthro or linguistics, or just as an elective. If you go to lec and do the assignments, you'll get an A.

she's too intimidating and if she doesn't like you she will make your life hell.

Definitely an improvement over previous prof teaching this class. She really makes the class approachable for students at all levels, and tailors assignments to the needs of the class. She runs the class without getting in the way, which is important in classes like this one, which is essentially a group effort.
