Eng 301 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: A+

Buy the ticket, take the ride. College isn't so much about the courses as the people you meet. Good professors that are also good people are few and far between. He is one of them.

ENGL 332 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

The man is crazy intelligent and awesome to have a conversation with. He's really willing to help out if you need it and gives credit for effort that is put into his assignments. I can't say I learned much about Shakespeare, but it was an easy, enjoyable course.

ENGL 325 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

Dr. Valk uses challenging vocabulary on purpose, probably because he believes that everything is capable of being described in words. And if you possess a large vocabulary, it is easier to express yourself. He will make you a better writer if you heed his comments and suggestions on your papers.

ENGL 105 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Barely cracked it open Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

Good teacher for 105. Class can be boring, as he just goes on endless tangents only to return to his initial thoughts. Doesn't really have deadlines, just turn things in (and get them back) whenever he feels like it. Gives solid feedback on papers. Pretty smart guy, definitely loves his PBR.

ENGL 105 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

If you're taking ENGL 105 just for the credit, then this is your guy. He assigns no real work and has no expectations. However, if you actually want to learn something and not listen to the rants of an alcohol addict who won't take his job seriously, stay away from this guy. He tells terrible jokes for the whole class and often comes in inebriated.

ENG332 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

This professor is awesome. He's very intelligent and hilarious, class was interesting to say the least. But most of all he's very kind and willing to work with students and help them out whenever he can.

ENGL105 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

In class, Valk often goes on endless tangents that have no apparent purpose, but every now and then he will offer some bit of wisdom that is incredibly insightful. Overall, the man is brilliant. Outside of class, he is eager to please and will go out of his way to help you. Attendance is not really required but absences will affect your grade.

Valk is hilarious, crazy, usually off-topic, and one of the most interesting professors you'll ever have. Sit up front to stay involved, you'll be glad you did, and be prepared for whispering then sudden yelling. He knows his stuff and genuinely wants you to succeed. Work is low compared to other 105's, and the class is relaxed. Goofy but great.

Valk was my Literature professor some 30 odd years ago! The one class I took from him was the one class that turned my college career around. I went from a borderline drop out to a Master's Degree in four years. His demeanor and attitude were what saved me and pushed me forward.

ENG320 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

A brilliant man. Easy to think you can slack off because you can. But if you actually LISTEN to what he has to say (if he's not telling hilarious jokes) he's incredibly insightful and probably a genius. Take a class. He's flexible about deadlines, easy to approach, and cares about his students. Do the readings and you'll learn more than you expect.
