I took Salas during one of my first semesters here. He was a great prof. You are able to use your notes during the test, so be sure to sit up front so the rude people in the back won't distract you (most of the time you could never hera him talking b/c of these ppl) Q's come right out of the notes... EASY A, good prof.

While he does ramble a lot and get off topic often, all you need to do is go to class, copy all of his notes word for word, pay attention to the examples he uses, and attend class the day before the exam for the review. There are also online quizzes which come from book. Study and do all of that and you should make an A.

Most of the time, he just talks about stupid things that aren't helpful at all. Exams are based on notes but his lectures are really unorganized and confusing. Exams are hard - questions are really tricky.

He's a very knowledgable person, but it's incredibly difficult to pass his class. There are few assignments. The questions on his tests are really tricky. There are extra credit assignments, but they're worth little points. I wouldn't recommend taking him.

POL 1133-TX POL Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Barely cracked it open Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

Unorganized and jumps back and forth between his notes, which he does not post and does base his 3 MC exams on. So, you must attend class and take notes. Exams are NOT open note/book, but is non-cumulative. You also have an online essay and chapter homework from the book. Study the notes based on his oral review and you will get an A or a B.

Professor Salas is BAD. He is very boring, and rambles about things unrelated to the class. He doesn't post any resources online so you better go to class every single day. He requires an online paper. He never posts any grades except tests. He also requires several online modules that are unrelated to his notes. I hated this class and dropped.

Nice guy, sometimes lectures are boring, but I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. He intergrates a lot of history into the class which was cool. He gave a curve on two of the tests and also gave extra credit opportunites and every test was open note/book. He is also very passionate about politics and history, which made the class engaging.

His notes are highly unorganized and thats the only resource you have for the tests. His personal books do not help at all on the last 2 tests (only used on his first test). I went to office hours and he was rude, he belittles his students and seems to assume everyone is a slacker. I wouldn't take him if you want to learn anything or be respected.

All tests/final = open notes. it's still kinda hard to get an A though cause some aren't found in there plus the notes are very unorganized. He rambles on and on and wastes time by showing us websites, but he's a nice guy and is very passionate about POL. the man wrote his own textbooks for god's sake..

He gets grumpy if you ask him to repeat something but is also pretty nice. His exams are open note and if you take notes in class the exam is almost exact to the notes.

Salas seems like a nice guy, but rambles 30% of class time and gets super boring. He still lets us out early most of the time too. Tests are open note, and he sometimes adds curves. If your out of options, take him. However, there are better fish in the politics professor sea.

Even though this class was extremely easy and homework and test were pretty easy, I learned so much from this class on the truth of the blacks and other famous historical events. I'd take it if you are interested in that kind of thing.

Civil Rights: Excellent course. We hardly used the books, but it's a must have to do the homework. The lectures are posted on blackboard, so if you miss a class, you can watch it later. You must take lots of notes. Open note exams. several short essays count the same as exams. Does not take up too much time from other classes. Some effort for A.

SUPER EASY BUT MUST GO TO CLASS!!! All test were open note/book! I believe there were about 2 homework assignments and for the most part if you turn it in on time you get 100, well at least I did and that was half a page worth for each question of bull (usually 2 questions per homework). Highly suggest this professor!

People, go to class and take notes. The OPEN NOTE TEST questions come STRAIGHT from what he writes down. Seriously, don't be a annoying on Blackboard and ask everyone else for notes... It gets old. This is college, and if you can't get your self up to go and copy exactly what he is writing, then you are just too lazy. Super easy class.

Great professor. Class is interesting if you actually listen, get a seat close if you want to... ( some people are rude and talk in the back of class) learned A LOT. kinda a lot of note taking, BUT you can use them on all of the test, and the final. If you come to class, take notes, and listen, this class should be a very easy A. :) take him!!

All of the work books required are written by him, so your basically paying him double. He was easy, but terribly boring, almost to the point of not making the class worth taking.
