Have you ever heard of a nice jerk? well that's exactly what he is. The class was super hard and everyone had c's and d's but the final was only 7 easy questions. Now everyone has b's and a's. He gives a lot of extra credit.

You know those restaurants where you go in and the servers make fun of you and whatnot, but the service itself is actually great? (i.e. Dick's Last Resort in MB, SC). Treat this class like that. He's going to insult you, albeit in good humor, but he's actually a helpful teacher. No work bar exams, but study and take extra credit (he offers A LOT).

At times funny, but mostly just cocky. Class is much harder then it should be and there's only 4 grades for the whole semester.

This class is not fun. I was interested in music prior to taking this course but am regretting it. There are only 4 tests that make up your grade so bomb two and your done, which is also not until after the drop period has passed. He is rude to students and doesn't respond to emails which becomes a problem when you only see him once a week.

this guy is INSANE. Class is somewhat interesting because he is so mean, but don't think you will walk out with an easy A. You will work ridiculously hard for a passing grade. Grade comprised of 4 exams(students sit every other seat on exam day, extras have to sit on the floor). NOT an easy liberal studies course. would NOT recommend.

The tests can be tricky if you don't read but they are very passable. As well he issues A LOT of extra credit. Enough to pull your grade a good ways. But, it's not all about the grades. He a fairly entertaining professor who conveys the material well and helps those who want help, albeit sarcastic help its still help.

This is a great professor. He is intelligent and expects you to bring your A game. If you don't, he will flunk your ass. Those are his words, not mine. Prepare to enjoy and understand classical music in a way you never dreamed. A entertaining expert in the field.

He is an awesome and funny teacher. If you just go to class everyday and pay attention, it's an easy A. He has a couple extra credit things you can do if you struggle.

Professor Cloer can be pretty intimidating, but he knows his information and he is a hilarious professor. Read the book and study the material the way he suggests and you'll pass. Not an easy A by any means, but passable.

Dr. Cloer is a great professor! He understands most of us are in this class because we have to be. He makes the class fun for us non-music people. But he still expects you to do the work, it is a college class after all! You won't do well if you skip class and don't put any effort into it. Study the material and you will get an A.

The class is hard, and it will never get easier. However there is a lot of history of music compressed in this course. I think Cloer made it as easy as possible for us. He has got a good sense of humor and he can see if you really try hard to do good in his course. Be sure to ask- he will help.

Funniest class ever. Expect a lot of middle fingers. If you are easily offended keep your mouth shut. If you can take a joke, you will love this class. Listen to the music a lot before the tests. To get an A, you have to read the book in order to answer some rather obscure questions. Listen to the music.

Dr. Cloer stinks! The class is too hard for no reason. He teaches as if everyone is musically inclined, which I definitely am not. The only reason I received a B is because of the curves on the test and two extra credit assignments. DO NOT TAKE if you are not musically inclined or interested in the history of music.

He ignores emails and then brags about it in class as if its funny. Way to hard of a class for an LBST. He assigned 50 words of vocab to study for the final and only used 10 of them on the test.

Class is way too hard and he never responds to emails. This class is not friendly to people who don't think creatively and have a passion and history in music

Cloer is a really cool professor, but he decided to make the class harder this past semester. I heard from friends who never attended class it was a easy B, because he has a easy 100 for a final. Not anymore, and the vocabulary he uses is not in the book so you have to decipher what he is saying it means. An A is very hard to get.

Cloer Is a great teacher. The class is kind of hard but he goes over the material very well. Make sure to start the listening assignments early some of them can sound a like. Give 2 extra credit assignments that help bring up your grade. Hard class if you don't try but easy to get an A if you do.

Awesome professor, one of the best at UNCC. Very entertaining to listen to his life stories though the class material can be a bit boring. Study the songs and you should be able to get atleast a B.

Oh Cloer...he is so funny and always makes fun of his students (and wife)! His class is very enjoyable and he makes music appreciation interesting for those who don't have a lot of experience in it. Some of his tests are harder than they should be, but he makes up for it at the final.

Class reminded me of a game of charades; Cloer basically gives you the answers without actually giving the answers. I thought the material was interesting and his reviews the class before each test is right on point. He is very intimidating and very persistent about his viewpoints. Overall, good and easy class if you actually study!
