Professor Chhibber's PS2 course is very interesting and challenging. Chhibber is very approachable, remembers your name, and makes the effort of helping you as much he can. There is a lot of reading, but that is expected, and the midterm and final are heavily weighted. The class definitely challenges you, so I wouldn't say its for everyone.

i strongly recommend avoiding this class. It was incredibly stupid; lectures went nowhere, and there was incredible disparity between GSIs. if you do decide to take the class, avoid GSI Tara Buss. She was completely unhelpful, almost never discussed the readings, and spent the duration of almost every section rambling about nothing.

I was not a fan of Prof. Chhibber. I found that it was incredibly difficult to understand him through his thick accent, which made an already dry subject matter even harder to get excited about. To his credit, he is a very nice, laid back, approachable guy who attempts to make lectures interesting. If you can understand him.
PS2
chhibber is an awesome teacher. granted, his lectures are completely useless, and the tests are based completely on the readings. however, he is a funny guy and extremely personable. lecture definitely isn't necessary to get a good grade but i like listening to him. and i dont like poli sci or anything.

I took his South Asian politics class over the summer. It was very intense. You can't simply regurgitate information on the exams. He wants you to THINK and formulate your own opinions and thesis based on what you've read. Also, get Vasundhara as a GSI, if you can. She's a tough grader but also incredibly intelligent. Discussion sections were fun.
PS145
Great professor his accent is no problem at all and his stories and comments are really humorous and keep you interested on lecture :)
ps2
Absolutely one of the best professors UCB has to offer. He actually makes you THINK and not just write down what he says and spit it back on exams. All the comments on his accent? Join the Tea Party movement or get serious about college.

Pradeep Chhibber is one of the foremost experts on Indian politics in the country. While his PS 2 class may not be the most interesting, anyone with an interest should take any class he teaches on Indian politics. He is charming, well-spoken, incredibly intelligent, and willing to help so long as you make an effort to see him in OH.
PS2
I almost never knew what he was talking about! Super boring GSI. Can only take class if you have a real interest in what he says...

?honkeedori?! In this class you have to read everything! The reading was pretty dense+tedious. I didn?t particularly enjoy this class. It was boring and long?but it?s not a tough class as long as you do all the work ALL the time and keep a close contact with your GSI. It?s relatively simple to get a B. Getting an A is a bit of a challenge.
PS2
Chhibber's not THAT bad. I'll admit that his lectures have almost nothing to do with the quizzes/exams, but I found his style to be pretty clear and entertaining. As long as you keep up with the reading and take good notes you should be fine.
PS2
Chhibber doesn't deserve the bad reviews. Accent wasnt a problem. He took lots of time in lecture to make everything so clear. In both lec and @ OH he is very personable.Even remembers peoples names in lecture!I wish I had the time to do all the reading but I split it with 2 classmates and we wrote outlines for each other.Interesting, not too hard
PS2
Chhibber comes off as a friendly, aproachable instructor. However, the class is EXTREMELY dense and he piles on ridiculous amounts of academic reading in which specific examples are hidden for you to call to memory on the midterm/final. His lectures clarify points but do not influence quizzes/tests at all. Bottom line: better author than professor.
PS2
Horrible professor, something just doesn't connect between his teaching and the material that is covered on exams. Quizzes worth a lot of your grade - 5% per quiz makes a big difference and they were quite tough. Get a good GSI and then you'll learn something. Gives questions to midterm and final out beforehand
PolSc2
Horrible, just like everyone said, but what's worse are the GSIs. My GSI was completely USELESS and we did absolutely NOTHING in class, he even canceled the 2 sections before Midterm and the section before finals. Worst class I've had so far.
PS3
Chhibber is NOT as bad as everyone claims. After the first week, you get past the accent and everything else is fine from there. He is a decent lecturer and very approachable in person. I learned a lot from this course and really enjoyed the way he formatted the class. DO sign up for Ben Oppenheim's section. He really cares for his students!
ps2
Good Teacher. Hard to understand because of accent. Readings are a must to pass the class.
Polips
Chhibber is a slave to his GSI's. Martha constantly undermined him in class, questioning his material. he repeats himself a lot, which gets dull. Class is made up of quizzes, a midterm and final. Both the final and midterm are questions to be prepared beforehand. GSI's strongly vary on grading, avoid Jason Purcell, he is a horribly unfair grader.
PS2
Ugh. Your grade in this class is based completely off in-class essays and little reading quizzes. Sounds easy, but then you realize that this format makes the class extraordinarily dry. The reader provides you with a bunch of useless information. GSI's vary greatly in their grading on the essays. I'd avoid PS2 w/ Chib unless your major requires it
