Econ 101 is difficult no matter what but I don't think Professor Fullenkamp's lectures made it any easier. TAs were not a big help either. You are going to have to spend a lot of out of class time practicing and studying. Lots of textbook reading. A problem set every week. Tests are ridiculously hard.

Tests are tough, but he offers a lot of practice and does a great job connecting what you learn in class to the real world. Top-notch professor that can teach you more than you ask for if you pay attention. Again, tests are tough, but there is a friendly curve at the end.

I took this class to maybe become an Econ Major but i'll likely be majoring in something else. We cover in 1 semester what other college students cover in 1 year, but Fullenkamp is gone for a month so we actually cover the material in 2 months. Prepare to have a ton of material, and if you don't have prior knowledge (like me), it will be very hard.

I took this class to get acquainted with economics and see if I would like to pursue it as a major but Fullenkamp destroyed any chance I had at liking economics.

Amazing professor! Lectures are clear and he makes the problems funny and entertaining! He gets to know everyone and tries to make sure they understand the lectures. The quizzes are hard and you really need to understand the reasoning behind the formulas and models to do well. Take this class, you'll end up learning a lot and loving it!

I joined so I could review Dr. Fullenkamp. He is simply the best teacher I have ever had at Duke. Taking a class called Financial Risk Management doesn't sound too alluring. He made it extremely interesting and more than that he cultivated a fun and eclectic classroom. Every student at Duke should take a non-required class taught by Dr. Fullenkamp.

Great teacher but totally nuts. Pretty hilarious in lectures, making attendance worthwhile. The lessons are videotaped, so you watch them at home at your own pace, take notes, and then ask questions about them during class. Interesting format, but I ended up liking it. It's a lot of work, but if you do it/show up, you'll do well. Great overall.

What a boss. I took Econ 101 without ever taking an econ class in high school, and Fullenkamp's class pretty much alone convinced me to major in Econ. He is smart, engaging, and actually really nice. Put in the time (admittedly is quite a bit), watch the video lectures, and you'll get a good grade. Curves generously.

Fullenkamp is extremely intelligent and the material for 101 is interesting; however, the flipped classroom approach is a huge time-waster and leads to a big workload. Getting a good grade is manageable but you have to be prepared to work for it.

This class is rigorous and time consuming so do not take it unless you are serious about econ. However, it was very interesting and is a valuable tool to get students on their way down the econ path. Fullenkamp isn't the nicest most accessible teacher, but hes a great teacher. Lectures are done via video outside of class, which I liked.

Prof. Fullenkamp is a really funny, very intelligent guy. His tests are near impossible (a 40% is usually around an A). The grading is very arbitrary and it can be frustrating that you only have 3 grades. Doesn't always seem fair. You don't use the textbook AT ALL so don't buy it. Also, you don't actually need to buy the newspaper. You learn a lot!

Great teacher and hilarious guy - he happens to love making fun of students as well. Definitely a class worth taking but pretty difficult and tests on grading can be arbitrary. Don't bother buying textbook or going to lectures because you will get nothing from either

Hard Intro class, funny guy. Extremely intelligent but arrogant at times. Over all still a good teacher who wanted you to learn as much as you could.

Everyone needs to take a class from Fullenkamp. He makes difficult material seem simple (though his tests are very hard) and keeps students engaged during lectures. You have to work hard to do well in his class and some people simply don't grasp econ, but he's very funny and EXTREMELY organized which is helpful when preparing for tests.

Probably the funniest, most sarcastically awesome teacher I've had at Duke. Although it's a difficult class, Colonel Fullenkamp makes it interesting with many humorous examples.

Possibly the worse professor at Duke, makes you watch hours of pre-class lectures, does absolutely useless teachings during class time. Unhelpful and extremely full of himself.

Fullenkamp is absurd. He is casual and relaxed although he completely knows the material. He sees through bs completely which is what makes him so great. Hilarious and entertaining professor that will ensure you leave his class educated if thats what you want.

He make a HUGE change this year and we have to watch lectures from past year before going to classes. So the workload is doubled but I don't really feel it's necessary. I reviewed my notes and ps before taking midterm 1 and I got one point over avg. The second time I just went over my test and I got one point below avg. So I was really depressed

His ECON 51 class is an example of a class where you get out what you put in. You don't have to go to lecture or do the problem sets yourself, but you would be well advised to. He is a good lecturer, but does not teach by the textbook. The tests are hard and material difficult to understand at first, but remember the class is heavily curved.
