The most confusing professor I've ever had. He frequently repeat mistakes in class or he just forgot what he did last class. It is very easy though, including the exams. I didn't learn so much about the subject, but still got an A. If you don't care about learning, this might be a good choice. But be prepared to have the most boring classes ever.

WORST CLASS EVER!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! Horrible experience! He spend the whole class going in circles and off on tangents and ended up realizing he did it all wrong. Very hard to follow and I'm a math major...I'm usually good at figuring things out. RUN!..NOW!!

He is very good at explaining theory of interest part, and most of his tests are straightforward(easy_. However, no extracredit, so you better do well on the test. The textbook explains well on theory of interest part but it is useless for derivative market part and don't expect to learn derivative market from him. He is Mathematician not actuary

Doesn't teach anything and makes absolutely no effort to teach. He is available during office hours, and he really will meet with you when you need to talk, but his lectures were not helpful at all

Yes he does make a lot of simple mistakes on the board, and following while taking notes can get difficult. However at the end of the day he loves teaching and puts in his best effort. Available outside of class for help, a solid professor

Not the greatest professor, would work out a LONG problem on the board and make many simple mistakes, (copying the problem down wrong, addition, etc) How very easy.

Professor Goldstein is one of the nicest, genuine professors I have met but this class was just ridiculously hard. Goes through material very quick in class. I am very hard working student and that didn't really help in this class at all.

Richard Goldstein is a fast talker. He is also brilliant and an excellent teacher. The material he is teaching is very abstract. I highly suggest recording his lectures for playback. I am doing this and it helps greatly. When I find myself complaining about a professor, it's usually followed by not doing enough homework.

Do not ever ever ever take this class with Goldstein. He is by far the absolute worst teacher I have ever encountered at SUNY. He thinks you already know a lot of the material so he just flies by everything and doesn't explain what he is doing at all. I am taking the class right now and want to kill myself. Definately going to fail the first test.

This guy cannot teach. He's confusing as heck and his homework assignments(the few he does give) are 100x easier than the test questions. Doesn't explain anything clearly and moves VERY quickly. He even confuses and loses himself countless times each class. Avoid avoid avoid!

class was ridiculously confusing. professor goldstein often jumped to conclusions in problems without fully explaining it. in his office hours he was helpful, but during class he thinks we have a full understanding of the material. he's probably just too smart to teach because i don't think he realizes that other people can't grasp the topic.
