ETHN111 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

DO NOT TAKE. he makes you print out about 500 pages of reading instead of just making a reader or buying books, and requires that you bring these printouts to class. Assignments are "creative" and thus completely subjective. Lectures are boring. 2/3 classes are partner discussion. He is a nice guy and grades easy, but NOT a good lecturer.

barnd is a nice guy but he will go off on tangents about something thats not even that important and is really repetetive. midterm is ok if u do it before hand (they r essay questions). essays, field trips, no final (gave us the last 2 weeks off to write a 5-7 pg essay). cares about: pt of view of ur essay, thesis, and QUOTES

It seems like every semester he changes his course syllabus? Because this semester, there was no finals, no midterms o.O Only 4 papers, which forces you to read. the two books are bookI and bookII.... -_-' Attendence is mandatory, b/c he does attendence whenever he wants. Lectures are intersting, book is incredibly boring. Easy class... sorta..

pretty easy/fun class. You're graded on a lot, but all you have to do is go to class and read the books. He kind of assigned too many books- 5! But I liked the art projects- a map and mosaic :-). Really deep concepts in the readings- Native Californians' view on life is just so amazing. more ppl need exposure to their knowledge ;-)

Professor Barnd is a wonderful instructor. He's a really nice person and you can tell he's passionate about what he's teaching. It's refreshing to see someone so enthusiastic about his subject. I've learned a lot this semester and I plan on taking another class of his in the future. Read the text and pay attention, that will get you far in class

You have quizzes once in a while, but he tells you the answers before it. No final or midterms... only essays. Have your friends sign you in for the lectures on the days that you don't want to go. He does grade a little harsh on the essays, but overall.. I recommend this class for an easy grade. Don't be fooled into reading too much. Not necessary.

Cool guy, but sometimes really unclear. If you don't understand a question, ASK HIM, otherwise he grades really hard. He gives you all the extra credit you want, though, so that's cool.

His class can be a little boring and he tends to give a LOT of info, but as long as you go to his class, and you actually pay attention the majority of the time, you'll get at least a C+ or higher. He is always available to talk outside of class when it comes to questions for his midterms, overall, he is not that bad, but be ready to work a lil bit

lectures r BORING. attendance is counted so go. dont think u can sign in and walk out. HE WATCHES FOR THAT & obviously gets a little upset when some1 does that. alot of take home midterms. ud think they were easy... too bad the ques. arent clear. he fills his lectures & midterms with ALOT ALOT ALOT of jargon. GOOD LUCK! =)

He's not that bad. He gives 4 papers throughout the semester, and gives you the answers. He's not the most eloquent speaker but he tells you what you need to know. He's young and a little too nice sometimes.

He is the worst professor I have ever had. the class was pointless, i could have read a newspaper article about california indians and learned more. the book is terrible. it pointless to go to class, he lectures but you dont have to remember anything, no one took notes. it he didn't count attendence toward the grade, no one would have showed up.
