Clear lectures, answer questions, taught well, but hard exams. I am taking this class with another professor as my second attempt, and I believe I am doing well with that other professor because I had Jerris as my Acct 301 professor before.

GO TO CLASS, STUDY EARLY, GO TO OFFICE HOURS. YOU HAVE QUESTION? ASK! Or else you will fail... He is the best accounting teacher I ever had, I actually learned in his class. I cruised through 100 & 101. No joke this guy will destroy you. First test study 101. 2nd test two packets, 1 hour, covers EVERYTHING, numbers range in the thousands to calc

By far the best accounting professor I've had. Even though I barely scraped by with a C (because of the sheer amount of material there was), but his lectures were more clear and concise than any other professor I've had. For those taking his class, be prepared for 3 hard exams and a 10 page research paper.

Great lecturer however his grading scale, test structure, and 10 page paper which is a LOT of work considering it's only 10% of your grade sets most students up for failure. Material=Medium, Class design=HARD. There is no room for error with Jerris, you may learn the material and still not pass. Only three test with a LOT of material for each...

Jerris is one of the BEST at teaching accounting concepts. He is crystal clear and always gives opportunities for students to ask questions. His first exam was a killer though... more than half of the class withdrew afterwards. Study EVERY problem in the book and study for days. It is no joke!!

He is the greatest professor in my all accounting classes. He gives clear explanation on every topic. His lectures are very helpful and interesting. Some people say he does not follow the book. My opinion is that his own methods, for example, pension and cash flow, are much easier than the textbook. Remember to buy a CPA review book!!I took 302/501

Jerris is really good at making his class engaging. He teaches the materials very well. The downside with Jerris is that he expects you to know every single small details. His tests are extremely hard. He was very discouraging and told me I shouldn't be an acct major because I scored low on my 1st exam. This was my 1st acct course.

One note, he has never been a practicing accountant. One day he accused a guy of being hung-over and singled him out in class, the guy said he had a cold. Also, Jerris seemed too preoccupied with the condition of his state pension fund than actually teaching the material. He always answered questions from girls, but tried to intimidate the guys.

His lectures are clear and helpful in understanding the subject. The homework problems help but you have to do them many times over if you want to do well in the exam. The exams are difficult, he doesnt curve or give EC. I felt his exams were very close to what the CPA exam has.

Great accounting professor. He explained the topics very clear and organized, he often talked about his philosophy in jokes. But you should be very good at accounting principles to go through his class.

Great professor, unfair reviews. You get what you give. He enjoys teaching and wants students to learn. You must do your part: read the book, review the lecture notes, do the homework, ask questions. He welcomes constructive feedback and actually implements them! He posted all lecture notes online the day after our class requested them.

The negative reviews are awful and unfair. Dr. Jerris knows accounting and is an excellent teacher. The exams are not easy but do the homework problems again and again until you understand them and ask questions if your are stuck. He will guide you. You earn your grade. He is fair and genuine.

Apparently acct. 100 students don't get the fact that there is very little BS in Accounting. You need to go to class and study and really understand the work to do well. Jerris prepares you for this and if you do what he asks you'll do fine. Tests are really hard but lots of partial credit is given. Treat 831 like a real job and you'll learn a lot.

I'm sorry for all the lazy sfsu students who failed his class and I feel bad for those who showed up and just didn't get it. But everyone around me would a miss a day here and there and be surprised when they failed. There were no surprises with Jerris he told you would fail if you didnt come.I went to tudoring everyday and passed. Do the same.

He's an awesome professor; however, hard. At least you can understand his clear English - a plus. His class is for students who have a clear understanding of all that they have learned before - he will not re-teach what was taught in lower level classes. Serious students will applaud him, lazy students will cry. He will prepare you for the CPA exam

He has been teaching so long in the SFSU. How come there is no rating on him? Folks who took him before please evaluate him so that others have some clue about his classes. Thanks!
