Professor Floyd is very knowledgeable in the subject, but isn't always the best at explaining it. Regardless, this is a very interesting class that you won't regret taking, even if you have absolutely no interest in philosophy, like me. Great elective.

I took logic with Floyd and you will learn a lot in her class. She is very clear and so knowledgeable, and she is always willing to meet with you to help or even to help you by email. Loved her. She makes you work for the grade but she is really fair.

Really easy class. She grades on a B- curve and drops the lowest two components of your grade. Direct problem sets. The two midterms were kind of hard, but the final was wicked easy. You can just sign into class and you're counted as being there. KNOW THE BOOK FOR EXAMS.

Professor Floyd is amazing! She is extremely understanding and her lectures are very helpful. She is one of my favorite professors I have had at BU and I highly recommend her classes. She truly wants to help her students succeed and it shows.

I fell in love with analytic philosophy and immediately, although I did not have the prerequisites, Professor Floyd was more than helpful, and always understanding of my struggles. She invites students to get involved, and her passion for the subject is inspiring. Can't wait to take her logic class next spring!

Professor Floyd's analytic philosophy seminar clarified material I previously struggled to understand. As other commenters have mentioned, her enthusiasm brings the material to life. She did an excellent job situating each philosopher and argument within a larger context, which I found crucial to understanding analytic philosophy.

Professor Floyd is a wonderful teacher of Wittgenstein. This material is notoriously difficult to teach, and her lectures clarify the text through example and by distinguishing it from other concepts students are familiar with. Importantly, Floyd makes Wittgenstein accessible without dumbing it down. I highly recommend Floyd's Wittgenstein seminar.

Professor Floyd's enthusiasm for logic makes difficult material interesting and accessible. I took two logic courses previously, and her instruction was much more clear and engaging then either of those. She is persistent in making sure every student understands the material, and makes every effort to help, including by e-mail and in office hours.

I had Prof Floyd for a combination undergrad/grad course: Wittgenstein. The class is very abstract, and the students were timid to speak their thoughts. Prof Floyd always took the sensible interpretation of the students' comments so as give credit to the students' intelligence and encourage them further. She was excited about the subject as well.

I found her to be A very good professor, but the subjects she teaches don't come easily to most people. If yoU read the text book and go to lecture you should do fine. Homework is challenging but if you go to office hours she is more than happy to help you.

The material is somewhat difficult and tests are difficult too. The text book will help explain concepts better than lectures or TFs. Basically if you get As on W assignments and Bs or B+s on exams and show up to lecture/discussion you will probably get an A in this class because she gives a generous curve.

Pretty tough course, pay attention because everything builds on the topic before. Attend class and don't do HW the night before! She is a little confusing during lecture, but if you ask for help, she'll clarify

Decent professor - lectures are not extremely clear, especially when she goes off on tangents, but perfectly manageable if you pay attention and read from the textbook. Awesome curving/grading policies where the lowest two sections are dropped. Very helpful during office hours and good TAs as well. Definitely not as bad as people seem to think

She is extremely boring and lectures are useless. However, I still recommend her class to anyone who want to fulfill a requirement, because 1) she curves everything. 2) she divided the grade into 8 items and drop 2 of them in the end 3) Read the textbook, and it's not hard to get an A. I didn't take the final, but still got an A. TA is terrible

Lectures are unhelpful. Rely heavily on text book. The professor is willing to help but cannot articulate her pt how students understand. Office hours help a little. My argumentation skills improved a little technically. Teaching fellows are useless. Assignments are laborous. Very time consuming. She curves grades at the end, but not much.

This class is difficult. Assignments are time consuming. Lectures are useless because she does not articulate the concepts how students understand. Teaching fellows are clueless. She is willing to help in office hours, but is ineffective. I do think I learned a lot about the techniques of argumentation through proofs. I relied heavily on the book.

1. Lectures are useless, while attendance is mandatory; 2. homework assignments are extremely time-consuming; 3. you will learn nothing after this class. your reasoning won't enhance, you are just learning how to express your arguments with symbols. Floyd is a nice woman though. she really wants to help you, but it's not effective at all.

A very difficult and time consuming elective. Very few people found it easy. Lectures are incomprehensible. In office hours, she is very nice, and tries to help you, but is ineffective. She talks to us, assuming we've had 10 years philosophy experience before. I was interested in philosophy before I took this class. Now I'm not.
