He may be difficult to follow at times, but if you pay attention, you will get his points. Brilliant academican, will be very helpful if you take the time to talk to him. Students who dislike him are usually those who do not take the effort to do assigned reading. He is a quirky teacher, but has wonderful ideas if you have the patience.

Engl203 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

Took this class to fill lit req. He is so far gone its scary sometimes. He didn't know our names by the end of the semester, and half the time was mumbling important lecture points. Easy enough grader, and the midterm and final weren't hard. I'd recommend you stay as far away from Loxterman as possible.

I do not understand why the class ended as it did. After a semester of suffering through his lectures and aweful attendance and participation policies the man gave out grades reflecting how much he likes the student. After getting all B and B+'s all semester he took off 10 points for some unknown reason. I think he conspires with the devil.

Don't freak out if you have him for Core!!! He's not a good teacher, but it can be done. Meet with him a lot (papers) and if you can, try to have him as your advisor too, he favors his advisees. Socialize with him- he's a lonely old man and favors people that are nice to him. Talk a lot in class, and don't be afraid to make fun of him. He likes it.

If I were to try to list all of the bad things about him and his class, it would take way too long. So instead, I'll list everything remotely good.

Alan Loxterman is the WORST professor at the University of Richmond. We all leave his class, walk out, and ask each other what in the hell he said. The man tells us crazy nonsensical things. His essay prompts have a fascination for all caps. His Midterm OMG... example question "He took my X and then he took my Y." enough said.. you get him drop out

professor loxterman is one of the original founders of richmond. the city. that being said, his lectures are hard to understand (lots of muttering) and more than a little boring. if you get an A on one of his core papers, frame it.

Loxtermonster is both funny to look at and listen to, but you'll never understand what he's talking about. The worst part is how he doesn't let you use the word "is," "are," or "can be" in your essays. Yeah...one of those.

horrible teacher - if you are in his class, get out while you can - boring and uneventful classes will put you to sleep everyday.
