Dr. Ward Allen's African American Politics course motivated me to be active in local government. Furthermore, she is a politician herself, and has been for over 30 years dating back to her serving on the California Commission on the Status of Women. Great class and great history.

Dr. Ward Allen is a great professor who will critically impact your life with the rich culture of Black Studies. Great class, lots of writing with a list of great recommended films and books on the syllabus to further enhance African American studies.

Dr. Carole Ward Allen is an amazing professor who knows her history and culture very well. She is also dedicated to helping students succeed despite difficulties or hardships. Expect many papers analyzing classic black films and reading about caricatures. You will soon learn that you're a film critic on black films.

I signed up for the class uninterested but the topic actually turned out to be fairly interesting. I finished this course proud about knowing different knowledge and cultures about African American. Very easy class, jsut show up everyday watch films, and do a summary report on them. The textbook was not really needed in relation to the class much, but makes for a good read. She is a comedian & pleasureable to learn from

Very easy class, Dr. Ward Allen is a very passionate woman about her culture and her teaching, will make everything easy for you to understand, easy quiz, homework assignments & final. She made Saturday school very enjoyable

Sweet Lady, disorganized class. Passionate & exciting film showings, ridiculously long assignments. RIDICULOUSLY LONG, meaningless assignments. Easy A, but I don't know if it was worth it. NO Syllabus - just long list of movies. Good for people who dont have lots of other "REAL" classes with actual real hmk & studying 2 do. She's a nice lady tho

Ms Ward Allen is incredibly unorganized. There is no "plan" for the class, it seems as though she comes up with random assignments on the spot. The assignments that we received were huge, tedious, and frustrating because they took a long time to complete, but seemed to be useless. The lecture were also unorganized with no real focus. She's a nice lady- but her class is a zoo. She had us buy a great textbook, told us to read three 30 page chapters in a two days, then forgot about the book completly. No syllabus. The one test she schedualed she forgot about. If you want to take a AfrAm class where you'll actually learn something, take Cook.
