The lectures were dry and boring, however she did her best to keep it moving. Slides were good, but not available online. Lectures recorded and available. The readings for tutorial were extensive and tough to keep up with for a first year class. Exam questions are given ahead of time, so you can prepare well for your answers.

I took this class last fall, and although I received a decent grade, I did not really enjoy the class. I liked the way Willeen set up her lecture slides, but the fact that we had no midterm and just a final made it hard to remember all the materials. She is a nice lady, and the worst part of the course was the tutorials.

The course was relatively boring, yet required for PDP. However, Keough was pretty great. The TA I had was a brutal marker though; average for both papers in our tutorial was low C+. Keough is clear about all papers, readings, exam expectations and other material. Never spoke personally, but helped me via email regarding my paper. Decent lectures.

Lectures with her were the worst part of my semester. They were so dead and dry... and she doesn't post notes online and told us her lectures would be in the final...so i attended every one. Final came...and I didn't even LOOK at the lec notes -__- all you need is the textbook. tutorial readings are way too excessive for 1st year..

Lectures right from textbook but she kept it fairly interesting; notes easy to read. Final exam was easy but your grade depends on your TA. She does help if you email her or approach her after lectures and is generally very useful

She seems approachable. Wasn't that interested in all the lecture material but there were some interesting lectures. In my opinion, the tutorial readings every week were too much for a first year history class. No marks back yet and haven't written the final though, so haven't fully decided my opinion on the class yet lol

This woman is perfectly suited to teaching Canadian history. An incredibly boring subject with an incredibly boring woman teaching it. The topic of Canadian history is one that needs a certain electric personality to teach it in order for any of the insanely dull material to get through to the students. Willeen unfortunately doesn't have that personality and though she tries, it's just a painfully uninteresting experience.

Super nice professor, but seemed even more bored of the lectures than most of the students. Classes began late and finished early, and others were cancelled altogether. The expectations for assignments were not clear, and my TA seldom attended lectures and so couldn?t answer questions very well.

Great teacher who uses her Newfoundland background to liven up classes. Readings are quite long for tutorials and those who don't like history will not like them. Had 2 short papers and a final (questions given in advance).Go to her office hours as she gives you much more information than she should... she basically told me how to write my 2nd pape

Lectures are a bit dry, but it's just the content, not the prof. She has very organized slides. Very easy to follow. 2 assignments in the course; one is primary source analysis and second is secondary source comparison. Not too much reading in a week. She cares a lot about her students and is very approachable. She obviously knows the content.

Biggest sweetheart in the world. Cares about every student, cares about the content ... just cares. Very understanding. Adds humour to lectures to keep the class paying attention. Ensnaring teaching style. Reading load more than reasonable for an upper level class. I'd take another class with this woman in a heartbeat.

She's nice but condescending. Course is all writing even though it's not a W course. Course material is boring, book is not mandatory, absolutely useless, attendance isn't mandatory either. TAs have a skewed marking scheme, if your opinion doesn't match theirs then they'll mark your paper down.

This class is pure fail. I don't know why it isn't labeled as a W course since there's more writing in this course than an actual W course. 90% of the marks are from writing essays, the final is made up of 3 essays. Not only is this class boring, unless you're really good at writing, don't bother with this course. TA's don't know how to mark.

Willeen is a nice person and tries to make the transition from high school easier, but this was def not what I expected for a first year course. There was a ton of reading to do every week. Unless you like reading and analyzing secondary and primary documents, don't take this course. The second assignment was HARD, and the TA was not too helpful.

Willeen is a great prof altho she tries to scare you off the 1st day. She's very smart, helpful, and easy to talk to. Her assignments are clear & straightforward, not too hard but not too easy either. She was very passionate about this topic (NFLD) since that's where she's from originally. Overall, I recommend her. Nice person, interesting class.

The ratings suggest this is an easy prof. NOT TRUE. Lectures were boring and instead of midterms, she had 2 papers where you had to read a bunch of boring sources and critically analyze them. Not what I was expecting in a 1st yr course at all. The only things I can commend her on are hiring a cool TA and trying to make the jump to university easier

Despite being Irish myself, I found the course pretty dry. Lots of treaties, agricultural issues, and other standard topics. Perhaps my expectations for the material were too high. The prof is great though - organized, interested in the material, and knowledgeable - almost a teacher per se, in contrast to the 'lecturers' who do nothing to help you.

Prof Keough was one of the most helpful profs I've had in my 4 years in post secondary. If you are new to university and she is teaching an intro course, I would recommend that you take it with her. She might spoon feed you a little which the older folks don't like, but she still improves critical thinking skills. Content made the class dull.

She is a really kind and nice. Though her lectures tend to be on the boring side. She was kind of rushing through her slides most of the time, but she did go back to let us copy everything down. Was clear on what she expected in essay assignments. I think the marking and the easiness of the course depends on the TA and not really Dr Keough.

She's a spoon feeder, but I wish more were in first year - considering the HUGE jump in terms of expectations from High School to Univ, you NEED more profs like this who can introduce you to the expectations of Univ. without terrifying you. She's kind, helpful, but yes - very dull - but only because Canada is a really dull country.

Make sure you take this in your first year if you do. Good proff for people who are new to the university experience, though she spoils students a bit more than she should. If you're not new to uni, or like a challenge, you'll die of boredom and frustration: she's a slow lecturer, repeditive as hell, and doesn't offer anything new on subject for.

Drop dead easy course. She spoon feeds the new kids. This is a good thing, since most profs expect new students to immediately make the jump from high school style. Though very helpful, and clearly wanting you to learn, she effectively 'reads from the book' during lecture, making it dull as paint drying and often ambiguous as to what's important.
