PHIL225 PHIL101 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: A+

He is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He truly impacted me, inspired me, and believed in me. I took classes with him solely because he was the teacher. He touched my life. HACC has lost a brilliant educator who truly loved the material and his students. Rest in peace, my friend. You will always be remembered!

PHIL 200 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Mandatory Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: A

Well-spoken, thoughtful, kind man. Unique outlook on the human existence. Devoutly religious may be offended. An open mind is essential in his classes. Can be too tolerant of goofing off and interruptions. Laid back approach to syllabus, deadlines and tardiness. Tests and an essay straight from notes. Attend class, take thorough notes.

Philosophy 101 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Mr. Hess marches to the beat of his own drum, and has a quirky sense of humor, but that in no way hinders his knowledge and love of what he teaches. He is always willing to help students however he can. He is ever the professional, and no1 ever questioned his motives or ability to be anything more than excellent professor he is. You ROCK Mr. Hess

Phil102 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

He is an excellent teacher who explains everything clearly. He won't kill you with work and he is very friendly. I could always count on him for advise and to explain things in a way that made me understand. I loved attending his class and he even went out of his way to wait later after class while I finished a test that I had come late for. Thx!

Phil101 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Barely cracked it open Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

He is a great teacher and willing to explain anything you don't understand. Topics can be a bit dull, but this can happen with any subject. Test are easier as long as you read over your notes and make sure to keep up to date on your journal entries.

About 20% of what he talks about is course material, the rest is his own questionable takes on topics. There's very little class participation; monotonous and boring

Had him for logic & ethics and I loved him. He mumbles and normally just kind of sits in the front of the class. You really won't need the text at all (I never read them - just took pretty extensive notes and I got an A). I also do have an interest in philosophy so maybe that's why I loved it so much. But I also just thought he was a cute old man:p

Professor Hess is a great guy. Years from now, when I'm old, when I hopefully have kids, and a wife, I will tell them about Mr. Hess, and how college meant more to me because of him, because of the classes he has taught me. If you're reading these comments wondering "should I take Mr Hess?", you should. Keep an open mind, learn, laugh, and enjoy it

PHIL225 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Barely cracked it open Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

Gets bogged down on certain topics. Moves slowly. Takes a middle ground/unique perspective on many philosophies. Interesting class, though notes can be a little tricky. Tests are easy.

Class is very boring and confusing. Fell asleep most of the time. I am really into Philosophy but thie class really sucks if you want to learn something. He is a nice guy but he never get to a point and gets side tracked a lot. I did't think it was a very easy class because I didn't know what to study for the exams.

He is a brilliant and compassionate man. He lectures so you have to show up and take a lot of notes. Tests are not that hard if you study your notes. We didn't cover everything on the syllabus. He tends to be late. He can be a little boring at times and belabor some points, but he's a very cool guy. Thought-povoking class.

We had a little disruption in our class schedule, but it was beyond anyones control. Loved his sense of humor and effort to try to balance all religions.

Hess is a nice guy, you can tell that about him. He is sort of "out there" though, much like every phil. prof is. It is tough to pay attn bc he gets off topic and rambles, next thing you know the 50 min is up and you realize you didnt learn anything. Tests are pretty easy and he doesnt take attendance. Shows up 5-8 min late most of the time himself

Logic102 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Barely cracked it open Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

His teaching is very easy. The book sucks very confusing. But what he writes on the board is what on the test so take notes. The teacher gets side track a lot but he is a nice guy. He doesn't respond to emails very fast. But the class is easy just do the work not much studying and it wouldn't be difficult to get an A

He tends to get side tracked alot, overall nice guy though. You prob. could get by without buying the book, but you would have to barrow it from someone to do the hwk for the journals. He does bring a neat perspective to the table, but tends to lean on religious values. Not very easy to get ahold of outside of class, and hardly ever responds emails

I found Professor Hess very interesting and I don't agree with other peoples opinion about him having a problem with christianity. I believe he has a very good insight on the many ways to get back to God. I just found it a little strange he did not address the Devil, because he is very real.

he is an interesting character.was easy, slept through class.keep notes tho most of questions which are mini essays are based off notes. challenges you but takes the class at a laid back pace.has issues with christiany while other religions are factual. overall he is hippy, easy, interesting, and compatible.
