RELI201 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

Dr. Collender is the best professor I have ever had. He is extremely energetic, extremely smart, and genuinely concerned about you as a student. He truly opens your mind and takes you into a different realm. Loved going to class. Don't know why is rated so low. Apparently, he has some movie deal with Warner Bros too...?

Perhaps the best professor I've ever had. This guy might seem hard, but it is worth it to stay in his class. He teaches Philosophy in such an excellent manner and with such great knowledge. Always helpful. If you want to take a philosophy class at the 100 or 200 level, or really anything else he teaches, he's the guy you want. Best professor ever.

DPLS745 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

He is well read and energetic about the subject matter. However, as others have mentioned, he is difficult to get a hold of via email. In my course, he was unclear about expectations for a class presentation. He also was a no-show to an out of class discussion that we scheduled with him. He seems to struggle with administrative details.

PHIL101 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

Great prof. Requires quite a bit of discourse with him, but as long as you get involved in class discussions and voice your opinion, you will mostly understand what he is getting at. He helped me make my decision to switch my major to phil. Unfortunately he in VERY unreliable when it comes to responding to Email, which is incredibly frustrating.

Collender is completely off his rocker (duly noted in the part of the class where he climbs on things) but his class is great! I had a 3 hour night class and was always entertained and learned a ton. Very few assignments, but always interesting.

He was practically non-exisitent in class, providing very little feedback (none of which was constructive) and always doing so well behind schedule. If I had him for my first or second class at GU, I would have left the program.

He is very witty and funny. However he is confusing, does not explain things well and doesn't really care about you or your grade. I would not recommend this class

He seems like a nice and cool guy but he doesn't teach you anything besides his own self-righteous dogmas. He's overdramatic and picks on kids.

I really enjoyed taking his class. He uses the book alot but i found it easier just to photo copy the pages out of friends rather then buying the book. He's fun and really enthusiastic about the course.

He is a great guy, very very interested in his topic which makes the class interested. He sometimes can get a little pompous so I understand where some complaints come from, but its not bad at all. He is very funny and witty, the class was very enjoyable, definitely recommend.

Quality teacher. He's super knowledgeable and can come across a bit pompous but not bad. Little hw, papers with pre-distributed prompts for finals. Enthusiastic prof, makes a potentially dry class reasonable. Recommended.

Funny guy, knows his stuff. I can see where people say he thinks he knows more than anybody else because he is "the intellectual equivalent to a fighter pilot." Overall decently easy if you pay attention and attend class, I would recommend him.

A professor that is unreachable to the common peasant. I would not recommend any of his classes. A professor that feels his personal time is more important than helping students. Do not go out of your way to do your job or anything, I mean... why would you become a professor if you didn't want to do the job in the first place.

One of the most enthusiastic professors I have ever had. However, his personality is difficult to tolerate - he teaches like he knows soooo much more than all of the students (which may be true) and the other professors here at GU (BS). Not recommended. RateMyProfs let me down on this one.

One of the best profs at GU. Even though it may be a lot of work and no guaranteed A, he is a prof that makes going to Gonzaga worthwhile.

If it's available definitely sign up for him! He knows no one really wants to be there so he tries to keep it interesting. There are a lot of pop culture references so you can always participate. There were 3 papers (1 in the beginning, 1 midterm & 1 arguing which philosopher you liked).

I loved this class! I didn't even know what philosophy was until I took this. I even considered majoring in philosophy just because Professor Collender makes it interesting. It's an easy A! I definitely recommend this class!
