You will have 5 HW assignments. I saw students stressing over these assignments, but he isn't concerned about perfection. Slap it together and you'll get points. 1 group project that only took my group 2 hours to do (we had 6 people) Midterm and final based off his power points. His study guide was lengthy like his HW descriptions, but helpful.

Very interesting guy, and you learn a lot; however, the lectures briefly touch on test material. The book doesn't seem to give the detailed information he tests on either. Not reengineered well for summer. He doesn't grade too harshly so it's possible to make it out ok. He make an awful and obvious subject not nap-worthy.

Ekedahl is a brilliant man, and he really does know his stuff when it comes to dot NET coding. The problem is that his lectures can be very abstract. We spent four classes looking at almost 2,000 lines of machine generated code. This class is hard: assignments are brutal, and the tests are really tough. Get help if needed. Can't stress that enough.

He's pretty laid back during the lectures but he does like to hear himself talk. I took the summer course and he didn't go into much detail in lecture but the tests were hard. People struggled with the assignments too, but he's not a harsh grader and a decent grade is achievable with little stress.

took this during summer term. he makes the tests pretty difficult(you get a cheat sheet), but if you do well on the assignments and mediocre on the tests, you can still get an A. he's a genuinely nice guy!

I am an accounting major and took his SAP class as an acc elective. Ekedahl was great and the class was not too challenging. Using the software was the hardest part. There were 5 assignments and 3 tests. Attendance is not mandatory, some people only showed up on test days. I would recommend taking this class.

I don't doubt his programming abilities but his teaching abilities are horrible. Lectures are filled with stories of him bragging about how great/smart he is. Lectures are vague as well as homework assignments. If you don't grasp a concept,he is very condescending towards you. It's tragic that he is the only prof to teach these code classes.

Ekedahl is the best professor I've had in a long time. He's brilliant. He seems to know something about everything. His attendance policy is this: show up, don't show up, text in class, I don't care. Whatever. However, do the assignments and study, because his tests are hard. You get a cheat sheet, but it's still challenging. Take a class from him!

Ekedahl is a good guy and knows his stuff. Class is not difficult but a lot of busy work. Several assignments that can eat up a lot of time. He makes the assingments sound overly simple and quick. DO NOT wait until the last minue. If you want a good grade, you need to put in a lot of time on assignments and the study sheets for the exams.

His online class was mediocre. The tests were hard, the averages were around a C. The assignments weren't very clear and the group assignment had no direction at all. You have to read the book to get a good grade. Try to take the class with people you know to be in the same group projects.

Really a great teacher, he tells you at the beginning of class that hes not a "police" and this is true, text in class go in and out with no problems he doesn't care. Go to class though because he tells lots of stories about his past careers and you will learn a lot. This was for IS 301, so super easy class and if you want you can learn alot.

My favorite professor at UNR. Not exactly easy, but I learned a lot. He's more than willing to stop and help you understand anything that isn't clear to you.

Ekedahl is an awesome professor. He uses a lot of his own experience in the field to teach the class. Show him a little bit of interest in IS and he'll open up a lot to you. He is very willing to help you out and is in his office A LOT during the evenings. 5 assignments throughout the semester and a group project at the end. Great class, great prof

Contrary to popular belief, Ekedahl is not the best teacher ever. I feel that Ekedahl hap-hazardly throws together assignments with little direction and no resources to pull from to do the assignments. For a programming class - I shouldn't have to teach myself how to do it. That's how I felt the entire semester. "MOVE!!" - Ekedahl. Don't code 4 me.

Take a class from him before you leave UNR. His lectures are extremely informative and everything you learn in this class is industry standard. He is a great teacher and I plan on taking many more classes from him.
