The majority of the work for this class (there is quite a bit of it) was done on Blackboard (SacCT). Although Dr. Burke is a good professor, she appears to have trouble organizing completion dates for assignments, and is often vague when explaining assignments.

This class felt like it was an online class but it wasn't though. There was a lot of online discussions that we had to post. Also,a lot of reading. It was a little boring.

I learned a lot more than I expected from this course. This course was more of an independent studying class. Quizzes every Wednesday & they were all open note - we put our text books to use! Overall, I am impressed w/ her knowledge about history & her welcoming approach. Great class I would recommend to others!

I found professor Burke to be welcoming, super knowledgeable about history, and passionate about what she does. Tons of points were available in this class in a variety of ways, so if you didn't do well in one area you could still be okay with your overall grade. She is approachable and totally refreshing; she wants you to learn something!

Dr. Burke is an amazing professor and an even better person. She is very challenging so I only recommend taking her if you are serious about history, because her material and discussions can be pretty heavy, but it is still a very light atmosphere and she is open to new ideas and conflicting interpretations. Very open minded. Great Professor!!!

She is probably the best professor I have ever had!!! She is super intelligent, super challenging, and is willing to work with students to help them achieve their best. We had an amazing class this semester and many of us feel like a family (even toward Dr. B) and couldn't ask for a better final semester! She truly cares. LOVE Dr. Burke!!!

I'm calling out the previous post. Candace you never even came to class and spouted nonsense when you did because you never read the material. We absolutely love Burke and never had problems with her, I did great in the class. Katie p.s. We can tell its you, we're stuck in this lifetime movie and can't get out

I am surprised so many people like her. I found her to be demeaning in class, and having no soul. She refuses to grant any type of response to e-mails. She greatly offended me with her behavior.

Dr. Burke is an amazing professor who teaches with great enthusiasm and passion for her subject. I am glad I took her class, and would definitely recommend it to everyone. She is very understanding if you need more time on an assignment. Her class was challenging, but she is a fair grader and provides as much help as you need.

Professor Burke is extremely easy going. Her lectures were slightly boring, but it was a 3 hour evening class and I'm sure it was not easy to teach. You don't have to read every word in order to get a B in the class.

Lots of reading, followed by lots of writing. Expect to have four or five ten page papers. Great class discussions, though, and the professor is smart, asks good questions, and thoroughly understands the information.

Prof Burke is a great teacher. Very passionate about history and really knows her stuff. There are 6 pop chapter quizzes but she always gives a heads up so you know when to prepare. Midterms consist of multiple choice, short answer and an essay question which she prepares you for with a study guide. Highly recommend.

Had her for GE. Shes a great teacher. HW is always reading material. We have two text books and two novels to read but they are easy. The study guide tells you what to study for and her exams are short answer and 1 essay. We have 6 book quizzes and she tells you when they are but are easy if you did the reading.

Professor Burke is awesome. She is so smart, organized, and her lectures are totally relevent to whatever paper topic she assigned, unlike those professors that seem to always go off on a tangent. She made something that I normally cant stand (U.S. History) actually bearable. Take her if you have the chance

This woman catches the eye - and holds it. A young, passionate, enthusiastic professor. When she really gets into a lecture, she'll smash chalk and pound on the chalkboard to make her point. Fun class, though lots of writing, be prepared! Actually uses the books on test material so don't slack off on your reading - it will catch up with you!

Great teacher. Easy to talk to, Powerpoint lectures, very open to clarifying material. Her exams are multiple choice and essay. You need to read the book for this class, but she gives study guides. No mandatory attendance. You could probably skip class most of the time, just make sure to get the study guide and read appropriate parts of the book.
