Dr. Mai is the single greatest math professor I have ever had the honor of meeting. He goes out of his way to help students and made everything more than fair. He is also somewhat comedic and that livens up the class a bit. Would strongly recommend to anyone for the future.

Very nice guy. His class is challenging and you have to study outside of class. That being said, I still enjoy his class and would recommend him to a friend.

Loved him! Took his summer math 100 class. He made a point to know everyone by name even though the length of the class was barely over a month. Always gave help when needed and asked for. Really cares about his students and them succeeding.

This professor truly wants his students to succeed. He took the time to individually go through each student's test work to give back partial credit since the online tests don't give you any. He asks you to come see him if you aren't doing well because he wants to help you to get a good grade. I'm horrible at math and didn't find him difficult.

As an engineer, I found this class pretty easy. Also, for a math prof. he taught pretty well. His test, were, well they were calc tests, pretty easy too. I never had a hard time understanding him, and he even made pretty funny jokes during class. I would recommend him to a first time Calc1 student for sure.

TZ was a great professor he was a kind man and he understands when his students don't understand the classwork and attempts to reteach it in a calmer manner.

This class was extremely hard. The homework is easy but the tests online are difficult. Because they're online, there isn't partial credit and if you make a small error, the whole problem is counted wrong. He's difficult to understand during lectures as well.

Cal II is the hardest math class you will take, period. That being said, TZ Mai will meet you halfway. HW and Tests are online. Tests are short (20 Qs). Gives EC for doing HW/QZ (still part of grade tho). Will work with you if you ask. Goes over material in class on board (w/examples). Does a test review. Test Qs come from HW/QZ. Its your grade.

Dr. Mai really cares about his students. His presentations in class were very helpful, and if you ever visit him during office hours, he is more than happy to spend as much time as it takes explaining something to you. He is very friendly and a great teacher. I would take him again in a heartbeat.

Hilarious. Very clear and helps you if you don't understand. Homework is all online and tests aren't hard if you do the homework

Professor Mai is an ok professor. His tests are usually harder more than what he goes over in class so be prepared. But if you go and talk to him he really will try to help you as much as possible!

do not take him. the examples he goes over during class are the same ones from the book. homework and test problems are not ones that he has gone over during class. he is always there to help but not very clear at explaining things.

Awful, useless. He explains stuff that we've known since we became cognizant (i.e. why we should save money, what we should buy and so on) but then tells us to figure out the math problems at home because he ran out of time explaining pointless stuff. Can't keep track of time. Has NO IDEA how to teach. I do not recommend him.

Did a really good job at first, but then he started getting more and more behind until we hit series which he rushed thru in a week. I've gotten A's and B's on the tests, but the test on series was horrible. Would recommend someone else, but if you're stuck with him, it's not the end of the world.

Terrible. Problems are similar to Trivial Pursuit questions. Solutions to study problems for tests often include "Done in class" and concepts not previously covered. Always available for help because he can't teach. All examples are discrete. Doesn't realize he's the only one that understands what he's teaching.

This class and this teacher is all about challenging you in ways you've never heard of. Seriously this math class was almost pointless (except that you learn to use your TI-89 a lot more) Test were hard in the beginning and got harder towards the end. If you take this professor be ready to work your butt off for this 3 hour course. MonkeyMath!!!

Dr. Mai is a very friendly man and SEEMS genuinely concerned with his students. For matrix algebra class, the material covered in class did not relate directly to material on test. i wouldn't recommend taking him- i'm a math major and i would study for hours each day and get to the test only to blankly stare at it.
