Gen Bio 1
No actual homework but you're expected to read the textbook for quizzes. The 3 tests require a lot of studying but he is clear on what he wants you to know. He makes a lot of corny jokes and is a very nice man. Sometimes he gets upset if students don't have as much knowledge as he would like them to. Practical are extremely hard.
BIO130L
Literally learned so much from this professor. He is kind of difficult and precise with what he wants but overall it was an excellent experience. If you don't understand something go to his office hours and he will make it very clear. I managed to get above 90s on all his exams and an A- in the class but I did dedicate a lot of time.
BIOL101
Anyone who says anything bad about Dr. Ryder is either stupid or just does not try hard enough. He is an extremely intelligent man who does have some trouble explaining things at times but if you work hard and ask questions you will learn so much! I managed a B+ and learned a ton. His tests are hard but if you study you will do fine!

If you love biology,& have previous knowledge of the subject, Dr. Ryder is your guy. He goes into great detail for those who want to know more about a particular area. However, who have not taken biology in years, he is extremely difficult, and speaks rather fast. His tests are strangely worded. Study every day for hours if you want to pass.

This guy does not know how to explain anything. The way he talks is so annoying and constantly making dumb jokes that aren't funny. He's a crappy teacher and the labs suck. I'm normally a straight A student and I could only manage a C+ with this guy. He takes off points for the most ridiculous things- like Spelling! Come on man..

I would not recommend him. He is a very hard and not fair grader. Will take of full credit if you get the spelling of a word slight wrong of 1 or 2 letters. Test are very long and can be difficult. No work outside of class but make sure you read the text book. Basically have to teach it to yourself

Dr Ryder is the man!! Anyone who says he isnt a fair grader simply isnt studying hard enough. This material is tough with any teacher, but Ryder does an excellent and VERY organized job of teaching!!!

If you only have to take one Bio course, and want to learn alot, Ryders the guy! You may not get alot of work, but, you better study hard. You may think your work isn't paying off, but, you'll come out of this class knowing more than some of the other Gen Bio sections. You'll be more than prepared for the MCATs with the amount of knowledge from him

He is a really nice guy, but he just doesnt know how to teach. He can't get the point across right, so I end up in a blur. He speaks to fast and says Um a lot. HARD GRADER. HUGE TESTS. LOTS OF WORK. i work so hard and dont see any return grade wise. I wouldnt reccomend him unless you have an awesome previous knowledge of Bio

This is the best teacher ever- he is soooooo helpful and I don't know what everyone is talking about. He is not a hard grader-he is fair.Just study and you will get good grades.

Hard grader. Does a lot of rambling during class. Can attend one of every three classes and be taught the same material. Would avoid if at all possible. Gave cumulative exam but failed to deliver a review sheet. Did not learn as much about the material as I wanted.

This guy is the reason why I hate biology. He is a horrible teacher, dresser, and person all together.His tests are hard, and all he cares about is himself. He also doesnt know how to talk to his students. I would by all means not recormend him to anyone.

People seem to dislike him as a teacher, but I really didn't think he was too bad. He makes some silly jokes but they make class a little less tense. Always willing to help, and holds review sessions to go over all test questions.

Brilliant man, just doenst know how to explain things to the students. Thinks everyone is up to his level in brilliance. Harrrrd grader! He is always there to help you if you need it though, very very nice man, just has to explain things alot more clearly.

i hate him. said himself "i am a **** grader." takes points off for everything, and is just an annoying person in general.

He knows his stuff but isn't able to teach it...I worked hard in this class but was never able to do well...he blames everything on bad study habits or a lack of good foundation from highschool.

very unclear, tests are very hard, wanted me to write a term paper on a study he didn't understand, didn't cover everything the course needed to, notes were horrible-ended up just teaching myself from text, nice guy, knows his stuff needs to take a teaching class, this was hard and i did well in ingalls' GB2 class. do anything to take Dr. B or TBA

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Ryder is the man! He makes class funny and interesting. And he's always there for help. Just because you can't study doesn't mean you can put him down! If you can't handle GB2 you can't expect to be a doctor, It only gets harder! We love Dr. RYDER!! Take him.
