Tang is a pretentious a**hole. He has an attendance policy because his class is boring as all heII. I had him for 131 also and had the same experience, unfortunately I had no choice. His tests are impossible and he gave me a C+ on a brilliant paper.

Good Teacher. Tests are HARD!! Easy online quizzes...Not very understanding if you need to miss class even with a reasonable excuse.

Not an easy class. Its so boring. Tang and McGraw are the best, i've heard bad things about Ivory. Its really boring but they try to make it interesting. Taking notes is useless because the powerpoints are online. Easy online quizes. You can only miss 2 days so use them wisely. Its not too bad, and the profs are cool dudes.

Not that you have a choice here, but you definitely have to keep up with this class to pull of passing. Compared to other professors, you'll definitely be going through a more rigorous class - the most work you'll have to put up with for one credit.

Took this with Tang and McGraw. Tang can be pretty hard to understand because he tries to talk faster than his mouth can move. Midterm was really difficult with the class average around a 50%! Easy online quizzes form the readings. If you can, get these guys together, if you can't, don't take Tang.

Many of the ratings here are unnecessarily harsh. He does expect a lot from his students, but he curves the entire class. He has some of the most riveting lectures I have ever heard as is probably one of my favorite teachers at JMU. You do have to come to class to be prepared because there is no textbook, but i would take any class he teaches.

He's really out there and gets off topic, and it's difficult to know what to study on tests, but he's my favorite teacher at ISAT.

I took 131 and 231 from him, both very similar in structure with same professors(w.McGraw). Tang is def. an interesting teacher. He talks really fast but he knows his stuff, you just have to keep up with his lectures. Tests are really hard, be careful, he expects you to pick up everything he has said. Overall a great guy with a positive attitude.

Dr Tang gives some of the most interesting lectures I have ever heard, this being said however, his tests are very difficult.

Interesting class but unclear because there is no text book. Unclear objectives, but participate and you will do well.

Dr. Tang is a weirdo. He doesn't make his assignments clear at all and he talks really fast and says strange things. He's a good guy, but you never know what's expected of you in his class and it's almost impossible to stay awake! We didn't even have books, but that wasn't good because he didn't even know what he was talking about (he said this!)!

pretty hard on students, expects a lot because he went to oxford. smart man, talks way too fast all the time. never clear on hw or essay. tests are like impossible, some multiple choice questions have like 7 choices (and they all sound similar)

Tang is an interesting man. He def. talks funny. But its really easy to tune him out. The tests are hard just cause you don't know what to study. The articles you have to read suck. I'll give it to him that he loves what he teaches. It's just that not many people care as much as he does. He curves pretty heavily. Class average he makes a B minus.

The only interesting thing about this class is listening to Tan struggle with his speech impediment. He doesn't post lecture powerpoints on blackboard, but discourages taking very detailed notes from lectures. The class isn't too hard though as long as you show up.

I didn't know it was possible to bob/contort your head nonstop for 75 minutes without immediately thereafter suffering some sort of injury to the brain. Dr. Tang proved to me that it is indeed possible.

This guy needs to cut back on his speed/caffine dose. He is very hard to follow/understand and never makes clear what he expects on homework. Without Dr. McGraw co-teaching the class more than half of us most likely would have failed. Never under any circumstances take Dr. Tang if he is teaching a class by himself (if JMU ever allows it)

He's mean, he even said so himself. Wierd voice, unclear about what he expects in assignments. As of right now he teaches with McGraw who is the nicest and most knowledgable prof ever, I shudder to think what he would be like unsupervised. Bottom line: AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS, HE HATES YOU AND YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IT YET!

Dr. Tang has the most irritating voice of anyone I have met in my life. The class itself was fairly easy, and the grading of exams and homework was leniant for the most part, but the expectations for the homework assignments and essays were never made clear. Did I mention that I want to kill myself whenever he talks? And yes, he eats babies.
