PHIL 2450 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

Paper due nearly every class, as well, as two major journal essays. Mid-term requires memorization of flashcards, which he provides. The class was not difficult, but finding time to do the work he required was challenging.

PHIL 2450 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Mandatory Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

This professor is extremely arrogant. The textbook for medical ethics is a book that he himself has written. Many students find this book goes in circles and is extremely hard to follow. He gets upset when you express how difficult the book is to understand and is very rude. He asks for your opinions but cuts you off in the middle of your sentence.

Phil 1030 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Barely cracked it open Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Intro to philosophy break down with Cardwell. Tests are super easy. No worries there as long as you study the review he gives. Only issue was with the position paper. That was rough. He is very specific about the thesis and conciseness of the paper. Do not write an english paper with intro sentences. Be blunt and to the point. You'll get an A.

PHL 1010 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

This class can teach you how to think like a grown up... but only if you let it. Cardwell is only interested in teaching people who WANT to learn, if he's rude its probably because you're not trying. Put in the effort, you'll come out with a good grade.

PHIL1010 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

He expects his students to read every time before class.. He is a bit obnoxious and rude at times. Never had a professor like him and probably wouldn't want to take his class again. He is very kind and willing to help with the paper that is due at end of semester. Easy tests

Cardwell is extremely energetic and fun. One of the best professors I've ever had. He works with you if you're missing any assignments. There are no tests, besides one midterm, which is word for word from a study guide. You just write easy easy papers. I would definitely recommend this class.

To those who say that your grade will suffer if he disagrees with you; you wrote stupid papers. He totally disagreed with my subjects, as he promised he would. That is his job to take the opposite opinion and force you to think. His tests are easy so you crybabies can make up some of you average and do ok in class overall, even if you can't write

Great Class, love his style. Stay on top of homework and study sheets easy A. HINT:anything he writes on the board, copy it, remember it. This may not be the professor for you if you are a definite introvert.. He is a phd but not a snobby one like many many others on campus. Work with him, he will work with you. Over my Fav. teacher at pell so far

Dr. Cardwell clearly has a decent knowledge of the essays taught. However, as a educator, he has no personal skills. He is derogatory and does not hesitate to be rude. I find him contradictory and childish. Also, be prepared for many many senior moments.

Very good professor! There are hardly any lectures - mostly class discussion. He knows what he's talking about and really gets you thinking about your worldview and beliefs. He gives you exactly what is on the exams.

Not too hard on grading. Says he wants to exercise your mind, but the first was memorization. He is enthusiastic about philosophy, but I found the material boring. Wouldn't not recommend or recommend.

Very arrogant toward people of any faith. I've had him for Intro to Ethics. He is a tenured PhD with a very liberal mindset. I would not recommend him. If you have to take an ethics or philosophy class, you might want to try Roane St. or U.T. (they transfer to PSTCC. Your grade will suffer if you disagree with him, as many students have found out.

Mr. Cardwell's a good teacher. He's very smart, but slightly arrogant. Don't try to BS anything or he'll call you out. He grades papers pretty strictly. He also has a quirk of wanting people to finish his sentences, but 90% of the time, I have no idea what he's talking about until he finishes his own sentence.

I HATED this class. He is extremely liberal and does not care about anyone else's opinion that doesn't agree with his own. He was very "pro death" and this was a medical ethics class. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!

He's great! This guy knows his stuff. I had him for Medical Ethics, and it was great! SHOW UP TO CLASS!!!! You are graded every day for class participation and it can KILL your grade if you don't show up. He's pretty tough on grading papers, but if you are firm, bring ethical issues to the table, and stay on track, you should do well in this class.
