FIN 416 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: Barely cracked it open Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: A

Hybrid honors version, Spring 2013. Keep up with the homework; there's no deadlines throughout the semester, so you have to be self-motivated. Notes in class are pretty jumbled, and it is hard to learn much in this class without thinking big picture. Test problems use the concepts, so questions might be something you've only covered theoretically.

FIN 415 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

This was for the hybrid class. Keep up with the videos and take excellent notes. The final is most of the grade 60-100%. Take the "optional" midterms; they help you do well on the final, and they take the burden off of a 90% weighted final if you do well. Do the partial recaps; they are great for studying the many short answer questions.

This class is all about understanding the material. Take rigorous notes and write down everything he says, even if it seems trivial. Try not to miss class. Rewrite your notes and take the practice exams and you should be okay. It's not easy but he does give all answers to exams in class, it's just whether or not you wrote them down.

Bill Beedles is the best professor I've ever had. He is very rigorous but if you study and internalize the material you can do well. His questions are NOT obvious and require actual understanding. If you don't like rote learning, this is the class for you. But be ready, because it's NOT just repeating facts.

Bill Beedles ranks as one of the top teachers in KU's B-chool. FIN415 is definitely not a cake walk but you will learn soo much from his class. He does his best to keep students engaged in class. I loved having him and would hirely reccommend him to anyone willing to actually exert some effort and get to learn from one of KU's best.

I'm not sure why everyone is complaining so much. I put in a decent amount of effort, attended class, and hardly used the book. His notes ARE all over the place, unrelated to the book, and his questions are ambiguous. How to overcome this: PAY ATTENTION in class and TAKE LOTS OF NOTES. Focus on concepts and "whys" instead of facts. Grades R curved!

his notes are all over the place! i missed one class the entire semester and could not understand the material even after i copied my friends notes. therefore, go to every class! take every optional midterm and practice quiz. i would suggest reviewing/cleaning up your notes after every class. i feel like i did well on the finalsoiexpecttogetanAorB

Worst teacher ever. Notes are all over the place and extremely hard to follow. Do write down every word but even that probably won't help. He is not helpful when you don't understand something and it's clear that he does things his way and will never change.

Save yourself $1,000 by finding a different professor for this course so you don't drop mid semester like I did & lose that cash!! I've never tried so hard at a class to fail so miserably... TERRIBLE TEACHER.

THE most useless professor I have ever taken at KU. I learned nothing from him, despite attending every class and doing my best to understand his discussions. He puts students on the spot and is rude about it. If you don't know a question he asks, he looks down on you and makes sarcastic remarks about how you didn't know it. Horrible experience.

The best professor I have had to date. Teaches in a way that promotes long term learning of Corporate Finance, learn by critical thinking not by memorization. Beedles class was worth every $ of tuition it costed, if you don't take him your putting yourself at a disadvantage for your later Finance courses and your collegiate education in general.

I worked my @ss off for this class. Go to class and write down every word he says. Beedles is a great guy but you can get ANY grade on his tests. My grades varied from an F to an A with the same level of study. Still liked this class a lot more than Lisa's.

Worst finance prof I've had to date. Beedles is absolutely worthless unless you want trivial crap to study for a test. His study guides are worthless and a waste of time. Take notes and if you miss class, sucks for you. He tries to make things as complicated as possible, and he's good at that. He knows it too, but thinks he is the savior of finance

FIN 701 is the classic weed out class for MBAs. If you have no prior finance experience this class WILL stress you out. But despite this you will feel like you conquered finance if you study hard and prepare for the exams. Exams are difficult but are designed to make you think and not regurgitate.

He has a theory that everyone will learn the way he wants you to. To have a chance to pass you need capture every word and nuance from class in your notes and only about 10% is useful for the test. His tests are ridiculously difficult. Curves the test's, then curves the class. Don't take this class at KU if you can avoid it. Take it online!

One of the hardest classes I have ever taken!!! Studying is fruitless (I seriously don't know where he gets his questions for the tests). Tests are worth 100% of your grade and they are HARD!!! He seems like a nice guy but just a bad teacher. Good Luck!

Bill Beedles is a genius!!!!! If you don't pass his class, you are on a one way road to failure. Yes, this was one of the tougher classes I've taken. In order to focus on his lectures, I took detailed notes and took passing this class seriously! It's just not as difficult as some of these critics make it out to be. B.B. knows his stuff.

I enjoyed Professor Beedles in class. He is a funny teacher and good at using examples to teach concepts. His notes can be confusing at times but ultimately its about going to class and listening to what is important. His tests are awesome because you learn as you take them. Study for the tests because they are the most imporant part of the class.

Bill finds a way to overcomplicate simple ideas, I find it wonderful to learn from a man who has NO experince outside of academics. Teaching methods are very outdated and require useless memorization of petty facts from class. All exams are 5-8 questions Overall if you want a class of that requires memorization of menial facts take Beedles

As mentioned, you must go to every class because the tests are based off the notes. His tests are hard, but its graduate level finance, you expect it to be hard. He was always willing to meet out of class to help, and I learned a lot in his class. I would recommend him to anyone willing to put in the time and effort to learn.
