PHIL 2050 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Mandatory Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: B+

LOVED HIS CLASS! He cares more about teaching a useful skill (critical thinking) than busy work. Classes were basically him role playing a philosopher, speaking on a particular topic, but always keeping it open to questions & challenges & involvement. One paper, one team debate, take-home final. The rest was actual learning! Opened my mind for sure

PHIL 205G Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

Mark Hausam is one of the most effective teachers I have had the pleasure of being taught by. He teaches in a way that makes class seam so easy but I learned so much. I began to think differently in my everyday life. This class really did make me better. Didn't use the textbook. Easy A. Attendance isn't mandatory but helpful.

One of the best professors I've ever had! Doesn't try to force your opinion in any direction. He's a little bit weird but you get used to him quickly. Few assignments and readings, a lot of in class discussion. He makes topics very interesting.

It's no secret that pretty much all phil teachers are completely terrible, but Hausam seems to be the exception. There's no brainwashing, forcing ideas on you, converting you to atheism, or the usual garbage. He'll teach you to think logically, and thoroughly prove your arguments. Take your ethics class from him, he's the best at UVU.

His lectures are great! It's especially the type of class to learn how to debate ideas and make you think. The papers are learning how to disagree without causing logical fallacies or imposing ideas. Really changed how I looked at life and how people think. Take this from him to really learn about thinking and ethics!

This teacher was the best professor I have ever had. He makes his classes fun and exciting. Super easy class but makes sure that everyone understands the material. Really makes you think to find out what you believe and why you believe that. This class really helped me. Since this class is required take it from him.

Fantastic professor! One of the most interesting people you will ever meet. Passionate yet clear and logical. Puts a different spin on the concept of ethics and world views. Incredibly enjoyable and useful class!

Easiest class I have ever been to, Mark knows his stuff, and wants everyone to succeed. If every teacher was like Mark at UVU life would be great, I learned a ton.

He knows his stuff and is interesting to listen to. He likes to debate, which is good because it makes you really think about a subject/topic. Going to class is not mandatory, but if you want to have good info for your papers it's good to attend. Do what he askes of you in your papers and you'll get a good grade. I would recommend him to anyone.

He is a very smart teacher, knows alot about the subject. He tries to debate, I think some people are afraid to raise their hand in fear of being opposed. He just tries to get you to think (hence philosophy the science of thinking). Very easy class, barely used the book, final was super easy. Just listen, and write your 3 papers, you'll get an A.

Take him! He has a couple papers which aren't too bad and he is a very fair grader. His style takes a while to get used to but he's way smart and knows exactly what he's talking about. I think he's hilarious. Zero stress.

Attendance is mandatory (10% of your grade), you DO NOT need a textbook (all readings were online). There are 4 papers, he is a pretty tough grader. Only one test which is 10% of your grade and is a take home. He does not require participation.

Personally, I hated this class. I didn't find Mark to be completely terrible, but I also don't think he graded fairly. He seemed to take the approach of "no matter what you say, if you disagree with me, you're wrong" when grading papers. Overall, not the worst teacher I've had, but definitely not one that I would take another class from.

Personally, I hated the class, but it was pretty easy and there was no forced participation. There are 3 4 page papers during the semester on topics that are very boring and uninteresting. We used the book one time and it wasn't for anything that was graded. The final was fairly easy. I expected a B and got an A. Attendance is a must.

Pretty good teacher for a rather boring topic. Classes feel long because he talks most of the time but you do not have to debate everyday with other bozos in class. Not a lot of forced participation in class. Not much homework, just attend class and pay some attention. Recommend

He seems a little awkward at first, but he's a pretty cool guy. There are a lot of class discussions. If you bring up an idea, he won't bash it like a lot of other Ethics & Values teachers. His midterm and final are pretty straightforward and easy if you study for half an hour. Overall, he's a great teacher and I would recommend him to anyone.

Taught a World Religions course. He is an Elder at a Presbyterian church in Salt Lake. He had an obvious slant towards a Christian viewpoint, especially while talking about agnosticism and atheism. All in all, though a very good teacher who is very knowledgeable.
