Prof Benestad takes his class very seriously and as a result, grades papers and expositions thoroughly. They are not easy, but if you do not get the grade you want, go see him in his office hours and he is more than willing to show you how to improve, even going so far as to re read your paper and give alterations verbally. So helpful and kind.

Benestad is indeed very conservative. He does know his stuff, but don't take the class unless your catholic. He grades papers as if it was a grammar class. do not take this class if you don't have perfect proofreading skills.

A terrible Professor. He cares more about imposing his ideas and opinions on his students rather than listening to his students. He says he wants to hear your opinions but translated that means he wants to hear his opinion in your own words. If you are not willing to do that you have no reason to take his class. Not a fan of his class at all!

Prof benestad is a nice man who cares for his students, but very strict and conservative. a lotttt of reading and a lotttt of writing. if writing isn't your thing, don't take his class. most of class he says how college students sin by drinking and "hooking up." final's hard and attendance is mandatory. not recommended.

Great teacher! He knows his stuff and is definately interesting. However, he is very conservative in his beleifs. He cares about his students too. He is very big on writing in proper english. But an all around great professor.

interesting teacher. really knows what he's talking about however, he's very one-sided so if you disagree with his ideas, then you won't like him. the only big problem i have with him is that he is the hardest effing grader on the planet! he treats your writing assignments like we're in an English class. Sorry we all DONT write the SAME!!!!!!

We had a lot of reading and writing to do. A quiz was every other week and and small paper (half page) was every other week. We did 2 three page papers. He was harder, but he gave great perks: two dropped short papers and quizzes, 10 bonus points on the quiz, and if we attended a talk it was 15 points to our quiz AVERAGE! *He's big on English.*

He's an good guy and is passionate about what he teaches. He is very conservative, yes. If you keep an open mind he makes you think, and isn't that what a good teacher is supposed to do? That doesn't mean throw out your own opinions though. If you let him, he'll teach you to write well. Quizzes and final are straightforward

Would not suggest taking him if you are a Protestant. If you are and you do have him, don't let him know because he will call on you about everything, and ask that you do extra work. Class with him is more about Catholic practices and beliefs than Chrisitanity in general. He is very hung up on drinking (is bad) and sports (are good).

be prepared to work, he will challenge you, but that's what makes this class so great. he is very helpful, knows his material and is dedicated to your success. and he's a cutie.

Reading, reading, reading, writing, reading. Papers are only a page, but there are fifty thousand of them. You have to read an entire book on the Eucharist....THE EUCHARIST!!!!! He will help if asked, he encourages you to do well, but its hard. Only take him if you are ready to work and learn.

Professor Benestad is a tough teacher. But he knows his****, and outside of class he will talk to you and help you with ANY PROBLEM, school or otherwise. He is a very pious man. If you go to class and work hard, you will learn about religion AND life.

A pain when he grades papers, and you will work to get a good grade. Uses Socratic style of argumentation discussing topics, and randomly calls on students for input on readings. Students feel dumb if they are not prepared with logical arguments to support opinions. This guy is big on thinking, so if you have an aversion, DON'T take him.

Prof Benestad is probably the most self-absorbed person I have even met, next to Sociology professor Midori Yamanouchi. Avoid both at all costs

Great teacher- wants you to work and do well. lots of reading and several papers, but a nice guy. Cares about your well-being and future. I would recommend him if you dont mind having a decent amount of work in the class. I did well on all the papers.......

This guy makes you read so much. His quizzes are hard and the topics for his papers are more than stupid. Avoid this guy if you can. Oh yea, everyone is entitled to his opinion and he doesnt care what you think.

interesting readings great class conversations really makes you think about the material when he grades your papers he always takes points off for bad grammer which pissed me off at firstbut in the end you realize that its for your own good and will DEFINETELY benefit you in the future good teacher!
