JAPN 355 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

He is really nice. Japanese literature is hard to understand but he made it easy. I really enjoyed in his class, to learn the literature history of Japan. 2 midterms and 1 optional final, exams are easy if you reviewed the questions he gave carefully

The readings are unintelligible until this man shines a light on whatever jargon you just read. Some readings are definitely very interesting, but other times they drag on. Roddy sensei is very understanding and the coolest, hands down. If you're taking a Japanese class, take his!

JAPN351 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

I took Roddy-sensei's Contemporary Japanese Culture class. The reading was extremely dense and difficult to understand, but he covered the points he wanted us to know in class. Great powerpoints, clear voice, and very friendly. His tests are intimidating but he grades very leniently.

JAPN357 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

Roddy is very excited about the material being taught, and will often do side-trivia regarding the topic. Many books were read, some very graphic, but interesting nonetheless-the amount might dissuade some from reading. 4 papers and a midterm, no final. Papers were fairly easy to do well on, it just depends on your interpretation of the prompts.

A good professor, not an easy nor hard grader. He gives you a good feedback on your essay though. A lot of readings and discussion in class, sometimes too much. If you're not interested in Chinese lit, don't take it.

JAPN355 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

It was an 8:30 literature class, so a lot of people didn't like it. However, I think he chose good books for us to read and I was very interested in the subject matter. Also, he grades pretty easy. I thought his lectures were quite interesting, though they aren't for everyone. If you aren't interested in Japanese literature, take something else.

this is Chinese Traditional Art class. The class is easy and boring! Roddy is not an easy grader nor hard grader...he is somewhere in the middle. final research is annoying! midterms are easy!
