Difficult material with a very difficult teacher. Although he gives review sheets for exams, his homeworks take hours, if not days, and he enjoys that. He does not give partial credit & if you do an entire problem correct but write one wrong thing, you lose all points. He has no sympathy and can be demeaning. Highly recommend any other course/prof

The class is definitely not easy, the teacher is definitely not easy, and the material is definitely not easy. However, he was very clear, and class was very interesting. Moreover,he is willing to answer any question been asked. Many people dropped out of this class first couple weeks, b/c the homework grade is very low...

Amazing professor! Homeworks are challenging but enjoyable, with many opportunities for extra credit. Teaching style is great, I never had a problem understanding any of his lectures. Seems genuinely interested in what is going on in his students' academic lives, and very willing to help when it comes to preparing to apply to graduate school.

Phenomenal professor. Puts a lot of effort into teaching. Writes his own supplements to the material, which are very good. Holds a no-credit seminar after class ends for the people who are actually interested in the material. I sometimes have trouble following the seminar, but the notes he writes for it always clear up the confusion afterwards.

Dr. Toll is fair and undemanding in 407. He gives hard problem sets, but doesn't require you to do all problems. Exams are just like hw, and he gives review sheets. Not always worth taking notes because of the nature of the class, but he knows and explains the material well and can always answer questions clearly. Not as scary as he seems at 1st.

Math 301 is going to be hard no matter which professor you take it with. Toll clearly explains a lot of the concepts and explains exactly what is going to be on the tests. He also does lots of proof examples, unlike all the other 301 teachers, who just prove the proofs proven in the book. The best Math teacher I've had at UMBC.

This class is definitely hard no matter what. Dr. Toll is very clear about what he expects you to know for the test, and makes a significant portion of it easy for your benefit. His lectures are a little dry, especially for a 2 hour long class, but he covers the material well and gives you lots of examples. Overall a good professor.
