She is an amazing professor!! If you ever need help, she is very approachable and truly is interested in her students not only within the classroom but also wants to get to know you outside of the classroom too!

I LOVE her! She's always willing to meet with her students personally and help with whatever problems she may be having or just to chat. Hollis is very clear about what is going to be on the exams and holds review sessions for each one.

Very generic lecturing style. Very difficult to stay awake through. However, Karen is personable and clear with her expectations. Lectures kind of useless as long as you have the Powerpoint, but sometimes adds helpful supplements. Really breaks things down in Fourth Hour. Need to do the readings to do well.

Her exams are quite tricky and it is not quite easy to score an A with her. Her classes are interesting but nothing really 'great' about her teaching.

She is amazing! she strives to socialise and keeps the class lively with interactive examples and videos. she will even perform whacko experiments just so you can understand better. She repeats everything she says and takes all types of questions and answers them well. I loved this class!

HORRIBLE! tests were on stuff that wasn't discussed in lectures or in the readings. i studied the material everyday and i went to meet with her and she said my poor test grades were because i didnt study, which is a LIE. her lectures were boring but i still payed attention yet learned nothing from her. now i hate psych.

I liked Prof. Hollis. I definitely wasn't a fan of the 8:30 am class though. I felt she didn't explain things very well, I probably would have been totally lost had I not taken psych in high school. She was really nice and helpful in office hours though! Her study guides for the tests were sometimes a bit off but if you pay attention its no problem

Only take this class if you plan to major in psych. a lot of reading and do not study the night before the test. the professor is very nice and wants to know you personally. I don't enjoy this class. the classes are very boring.

Only take Psych 101 with Karen Hollis if you NEED it for your major. It is a nightmare. I took it because I am a psych major, and would have dropped it if I didn't NEED it. SPARE YOURSELVES.

Prof Hollis is a good lecturer, she lectures like she's having a conversation with the entire class, so it doesn't get boring. She's extremely helpful, she genuinely wants to get to know students, and is very approachable. She is very intelligent but isn't condescending. I loved her class and I'm not even a psychology major.

I think Karen Hollis is a lovely woman, and really likes what she teaches. She wants people to understand her and to do well. That said, all lectures are straight for the book, which you really need for exams.

Okay. She is very nice, but nice don't mean crackers. She does not teach (which is BAD, kids-it's an intro course, instruction would be PREFERABLE). You LEARN the material from the TEXT by YOURSELF. It's a useless waste of grade, and a bad reason to wake up so early. DO NOT take this course unless you NEED it for your major. I should have listened!

She's very nice, and I thought she was a good teacher. If something isn't clear to you, she is always willing to help you understand. You do need to study for her tests, because the lectures do not cover everything in the book. She makes the content interesting and her power-points are very helpful.

READ THE BOOK! after the first test, when you notice she leaves out big chunks of the reading you were assigned in her lectures and you fail a test.. you're all but screwed. if you go to Karen, she will do all in her power to help you. She isn't there to trick you and if you mess up in the class, it's your fault. not hers.

Karen is an engaging professor and excellent lecturer. Her PowerPoints are crafted exceptionally well. She has extended invitations for students to come talk with her after class so she can get to know them, and is a very pleasant person. Lots of information covered in this course, though, so be prepared. The exams are fair, but challenging.
