CHEM105 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Mandatory Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: B-

Dr. Melton is a rather nervous teacher, but he's very smart and very easy to talk to if you want to use office hours. I highly recommend his classes - he explains the topic well and doesn't go on tangents like other profs. You'll love him if you pay attention in class.

CHEM 101 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Mandatory Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: C+

While Dr. Melton is very nice he is a terrible teacher. He either includes so much extra information that you lose sight of what the problem is or he simply gives you a problem and lets you spend 40min. floundering on your own without any direction. I expected to work hard in this class, but I was not expecting to have to teach myself the material.

He's a very sweet older man who loves chemistry, but he cannot teach to save his life. If you want to take a class and teach yourself chemistry his class is the one for you... I do not recommend taking chemistry with him.

CHEM106 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

Dr. Melton always seems to be befuddled. His lectures always start with prayer and a meaningful quote, which is nice. He is a pretty nice guy, but he isn't too good at lecturing. He will make sure you understand if you talk to him about something after class or lab. He was very flexible when I had to miss classes for a family emergency.

Super sweet guy, so adorable, but not a great prof. I am awful at chem and taking him did not help. He is very scatterbrained in his teaching and you end up teaching yourself most of the information. I am sure his test are fair if you know the info. but I really struggled with him.

CHEM105 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

He is a very smart teacher and knows what he talks about but his lectures are ridiculously boring and he is always behind the curriculum. Try not to take Melton because once he is behind, which he will be, he rushes through the second half of class and decides not to teach things that are on tests

CHEM106 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

Dr. Melton is very intelligent but is also very quiet and shy, which makes it rather hard to pay attention in a morning class. However, his notes are very thorough and his exams are not that bad as long as you have worked out some of the homework problems.

CHEM105 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Barely cracked it open Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: N/A

Although Melton is kind hearted and nice, he skips teaching the basics and expects everyone to have quite a bit of chemistry knowledge prior to coming to the class. Not good. Made his lectures somewhat hard to understand. The final in this class will screw your GPA.

CHEMgen1 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

Dr. Melton is helpful, super smart, and pretty easy-going as far as grading. He accepts things late and posts answers, so you can always get full points. I really hate chemistry, but it was a good experience with Dr. Melton. He is lefty, not super clear, and kinda strange, but also a loving guy. It's a hard class in general, but I'd recommend Dr. M

Is rather incomprehensible. He's alright, and is helpful sometimes, but is very boring, and doesn't make much sense in class. I learned most of the material from the textbook.

Melton is socially awkward and nervous around people, but he's hugely intelligent and hugely helpful one on one. The man knows Chemistry! Some people think he's boring, but I love his class. Highly recommended!

If you have to take chem, I think you should take Melton. His labs are really easy, and home work is an automatic A if you do it and get the answers right (he posts them.) He will explain things if you have questions and he is a nice guy.

Wicked nice guy, very nervous but its cute. Lectures are majorly boring, but homework and tests are easy. He emails outlines of all his lectures. If possible take another prof for lab, because Melton's pre-labs take forever.

kinda shy, but very very smart. lectures can be confusing, but he e-mails out outlines which is really nice. he can answer pretty much any question you ask him about chem. pre-labs take an eternity, but during the actual experiments he's a great help.

He is such a cute and nice little man who knows a TON about his subject. He's a little hard to understand sometimes, but it's very do-able. Warning: Prelabs take an eternity. Make sure to pick a day that is not Friday.

yes he is shy and seemed to get discombobulated during class - but give him and chance and you'll find he is very smart and not so bad as a teacher.
