Class consists of only three things--a VERY tough midterm, a 6 page paper, and a final. No homework or attendance. His lectures are dry, and only writes a few things on the board. Notes are self-dependent and tough since you have to listen to his thick accent. Be sure to read the book for the final. Overall, would avoid if you could.

It was a fun class. Has a semi-thick accent but I always understood what he was saying. Straight forward, 2 exams, 1 paper. Attendance not mandatory, but I went anyways because I liked the class. Would recommend to everyone interested in the subject

Great lectures, nice prof who is very accessible. Not much reading, just notes on lectures and then 2 essay exams (midterm and final). He gives you list of about 25 essay topics to study/memorize, then for exam he will choose approx 10 to assign on day of exam. Only other assignment is a paper answering approx 6 essay questions. Fair grader.

Loved this class from day. So far the only teacher who took the time to walk around class and shake everyones hand. Simple class if u show up. He gives out a study guide with every question to the exam. Great guy, chill, and an expert.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. He is seriously the Zen master. Very insightful, entertaining & most of all very knowledgeable. I enjoyed showing up to class because I knew everyone was having a good time in there. He cracks jokes, curses & may even show off his martial art skills. Subscribe to his podcasts, show up to class & just LISTEN UP

Amazing. So interesting and I looked forward to every class. Like the reviewer before said, his wife had just passed away the week school started. He's a wonderful person, a great teacher and so interesting. His midterm is a killer but the paper and final he grades easily.

This professor is amazing. His wife died the first week of class, but he came almost every day and with such great, upbeat spirits. Even though we covered each religion briefly, I came out of the class having learned so much, and it's hard to even tell that we spent such a short time on each religion! If you like history, take this professor!

He is an extraordinarily amazing professor. One of my favorites at SMC. His lectures are very engaging and he finds a way to make them directly relevant to you. The midterm was multiple choice, and not that difficult. The essay and final were relatively easy. He gives you the exact questions he's going to put on the final, so it's not that bad.

I admire him so much. On the first week of the semester he wasn't there because his wife had just died. We didn't expect to see him for a long time but he was there the very next week. Despite being obviously shaken up by what happened, he managed to make lecture funny and brilliant. The rest of the semester continued the same way. Wonderful man!

He is super nice, very helpful and crystal clear about everything he says. His midterm is hard, but grades term paper and final very leniently. There is a lot of reading, but he'll guide you through it. It's more like a back-up if you missed something in class. He responded to emails within 2 hrs, was understanding and accomodating! AMAZING.TAKE HIM

Easily one of the best professors I've had at SMC. He has an incredible teaching style and had me engaged every single day. Finished class early each day and I still learned so much! Hard midterm, but you can still get an A since he's easy with the paper and the final. I'll be taking his other class next semester just because I like him so much.

This Prof. is the epitome awesomeness. I have read that he is a martial artist practitioner; I only saw him execute his skills once, but it looked awesome! I highly recommend this Professor. You will regret not taking him.

I have to admit the midterm scared me: it's just that hard. But the paper is interesting and fairly easy, and same goes for the final. When I took the class last semester, everyone who finished the course passed, and at least half of us got As and Bs. So, just survive the midterm and everything is easier after that.

In the beginning, I loved it! He was fun to listen to, and the topics were genuinely interesting. Then midterm came around. He flat out told us that hardly any of us would pass. Not very encouraging. Sure enough, I failed the test. Everyone did. Essay was boring and not creative at all. Avoid this class! It's impossible to pass.

Definitely NOT as easy as the rest of the reports claim. In my class everyone got D's and F's on the midterm and if you fail it you can't get an A anymore! No extra credit. On another note, he's hilarious and makes the subject fun.

Prof. Bolelli has a great ablility as a speaker as well as to keep ones attention (especially being history)! I was not at all interested in taking a history class-even worse history of the U.S. but he tied the ends together and made it crystal clear. Straightforward class- advice for tests: a lot of speaking so take lots of notes and attend class!
