AFRAM1 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

African American Studies - Dr. Johnson was my AFRAM Instructor in the Spring '09 Session. I found this class to be one of the best African American studies courses I have ever taken. The text book and reader were a lot to digest in a semester, and you certainly had to read in order to do well in the class. The summary papers were challenging.

Hist3 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

I attended Dr.Johnson's class in the Spring '09 session. His class was extremely stimulating, challenging and comprehensive. Dr. Johnson made sure that his lectures were well organized, gave examples on the board, handed out study material and was available after class and at office hours for any additional help required.

AFRAM1 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

Johnson was an extremly stimulating and helpful Professor. It is essential to do the required reading in this class or you will fail on the exams! The class size dropped drasically during the semester, but I did not found it to be an unreasonable amount of work. If you want to learn something productive I definetly recommend his class.

AFRAM33 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

David is a walking encycolpedia, he is very knowledgeable about History in general and not just AFRAM. What puts a damper on the class is the intelligence level of the students, it is a college course however many of the students dont know jack shyt. If you dont want to read or come to class everyday, you deserve the F or C you recieve.

Professor Johnson is not only a horrible teacher but makes learning in his class difficult. I can understand how the others that have posted on this forum enjoyed this class - a lot of the class is discussions about personal experiences and that can be enjoyable - however, do not expect for this class to teach you anything useful or to be easy.

This talented teacher is a perfect cross between Charles Barkey's bald beauty and the allure of skilled oratory of Michael Wilbon. He is as knowledgeable as he is personable, and every minute in his course is enjoyable on so many levels! Berkeley City College is now the "Place to Be" for hot faculty!

He was very knowledgeable and personable. His background is teaching at Cal, but I don't get the sense he watered down the class for us CC people. He assigns a lot of reading, but also incorporated some great films into his lecture that made the class discussions interesting.
