Morris is wonderful. If you're working towards becoming a teacher, he's the best. He gives tons of insight, provides countless resources, & he genuinely cares about his students. He's funny & approachable. He assigns various low stakes writing assignments & two major projects. He uses one teaching book & a few articles. I highly recommend him!

Paul was my favorite teacher at SF State because he truly cared about my success. His class required a lot of work, but none of it was too hard and he graded everything in a timely manor. He is super knowledgable about teaching and explained everything clearly. I found myself never wanting to miss class! Take him if given the opportunity!

Dr. Morris was fantastic. Caring, sincere and not arrogant in the least. Very helpful in office hours. Highly recommended. (Needs to change his trousers, though!);)

He is amazing! He really cares about students and cares about training them well for their future career in teaching. The textbooks were all interesting & the requirements were 1 teaching demo w/reflection paper, 25 tutoring hrs., 6 journals, 3 analysis papers & 1 final synthesis. One of my favorite classes I've taken @ state & I'm a senior!

I loved this class! Their is kind of alot of reading but its easy and the books are really good! I didnt have trouble finishing it and I read slow! Their is three essays, a short project, and a critical bibliography, where you read 8 to 10 books of your choice ( look up the summaries if your pressed for time, but you get the whole semester to do

Professor Morris's English 417 class was really interesting, but very intense. There was a lot of work involved, but he made a genuine effort to keep students engaged. If you're having trouble in class, I seriously recommend that you go to his office hours! He was really helpful during those times and clarified things for me when I needed help.

He was a kind and helpful native speaker to all Thai students. We remember when he helped out a poor student who could not write a research paper. He helped with no charge. That was very nice. His accent is lovely though it's not easy for all ESLs. He is hot in his 40s. Miss ya. ^_^ - Pree & Co.

This class was crammed full of interesting and useful info for future English teachers. Paul does a good job of explaining things, especially the rhetoric, so it's easy to understand. He is a hard grader but also very helpful and personable. Doesn't think he's an expert on everything about everything - something you don't see from many profs.

A truly fantastic teacher who clearly understands the works that he's teaching. He's both brilliant and organized, and he makes sure that the group work activities are useful for his students, asking them to think more deeply about discussion topics.

There was a lot of reading and he's not necessarily the easiest grader but it was still my favorite class last semester! The material was interesting but you must show up and do ALL the reading to do well. He can be a bit scattered and forgetful at times so don't expect him to ever remember your name. Highly recommended

i recommend this teacher. his accent is really cool. but other than that, you really do have to attend class, he'll know if your missing. but it's for your benefit because he explains the book well. He wants your essays to be really simple. the essays are 4-5 pages long and i think there's 4.

I liked this class. He is from England so he has an accent and it is hard to understand him sometimes. He is pretty organized and likes to do a lot of in class group work to help understand the books. We wrote an essay every other week of the semester and always had them graded in a timely fashion. I would recommend this teacher.
