Great guy. Very reasonable. Some people love him others hate him. Just do what he says and you'll be golden. He truly does care about the students. Very entertaining in class.

Avoid at all costs. He will give you a zero if you solve problems the smart way. He does not care about right answers, only wants you to do problems the dumbest, slowest way possible.

Shaughnessy is the man when it comes to Fluid Mechanics (the book is his). He is the most caring prof. I've had at Duke who teaches with passion and wants everyone to understand the material. While he is extremely entertaining and the class is great with him, it is a huge time commitment- 5 3hr exams, over 200 hw probs, and 15 short films to watch.
