This class was boring, but it was an easy A as long as you do all of the work. There were way too many required readings (I'm talking two 20 page articles a week). We were required to watch a lot of movies and compare them to what we learned in the text, so it was laid-back. I didn't even read the text or articles completely and I still got an A.

Though I took the class online and only met him twice when I presented my speech in class, I found him to be genuinely nice and helpful teacher! He also was extremely reasonable when I had the stomach flu the day of one my speeches and allowed me to present a different day on campus.

His class was generally easy but his grading on speeches was ridiculously hard. My peer evaluation was amazing and his was the opposite each time. If you do okay on those speeches though you are almost guaranteed an A if you do the rest of the work.

Not the best at online communication but easy to get an A if you do all assignments and do well on speeches.

His class is interesting, and you know what is expected of you and when. Although there were some technology issues in this class, he is very helpful and understanding. He is approachable and sincere in his student interactions.

Took his Capstone course called Law and Film. I thought it would be easy since you watch movies every class period, but it's more about law than film. Homework is straight from the book - you won't pass w/out the book. 10-12 page paper due at end of semester, but that's typical of capstone.

Capstone class that I thought would be easy requires a lot of writing. You watch films and then do research for his papers. He is extremely friendly and helpful. You need to generate conversation for help. The class is extremely interesting but requires a lot of writing. You learn a lot about the topic and about writing papers. I highly recommend!

Great enthusiasm in the subject. Very helpful, but student needs to be the one to generate the request.

Great teacher. I recommend the 4 weekend class. Tough if you do not read the text; need to keep up with reading. But, he covers the material before each week's tests. 3 papers were also due and not hard; just need the commitment.

If you want to get Oral Comm over with, I recommend the 4-weekend format. It's 8 hours on Saturday for 4 weekends. You have a test every weekend, but he lectures beforehand so all the info is still stuck in your head. It's an easy A, as long as you READ the textbook and study the study guide.

I took the online course. One assignment to work on all week. One chapter per week (do read it & outline it). Three tests (4 chapters each). Test questions come straight from the text, but you'd better read it carefully. One 5-page research paper on a topic of your choice. Very do-able course and better than going to a classroom!

Have taken both a classroom and web based class with him. He is a great teacher, however was a bit hard to follow at times during the web based class. I recommend taking him in a classroom setting. Would take him again.

This is one of the best instructors I've had at Meramec thus far. Professor Hurst makes his expectations very clear from the start so there is little room for error so long as you are mindful of the requirements. He has a great enthusiasm for the subject, which makes the class quite enjoyable for the most part.
