"Hilarious" "Would take again" "Respected by students"

He is a really awesome teacher! Makes lectures funny:) Took a hybrid course which was also a good idea, we only met once a week. There are no midterms or a final, but there are quizzes every two weeks which can really hurt your grade. There are a few group projects but overall he's great. Take this class with him, highly recommend.

I'm minoring in Anthropology and I plan on taking more classes with Dr. Raichlen, he is smart and his exams are to the point. Attend lectures and you'll Ace the class.

Dr. Raichlen is both thorough, inspiring and just an all around very nice guy. He lays out every lecture in various "modules," with quizzes every other week. Labs are usually pretty interesting, although expect a lot of group work in this class. I honestly don't have a bad thing to say about his class. Would definitely recommend this professor.

He is extremely helpful and the mandatory review sessions were a huge help. He completely changed my way of taking exams and showed that it's easy to study if you create your own questions for the test. I really wish that I had had him earlier in my college career. You can still get an A in the class without attending class, just the reviews.

Excellent professor. His lectures and exams are straightforward and are not difficult if you keep up with the material. He can be difficult to contact, but is very willing to help out students. Very intelligent and enthusiastic - take a class with Raichlen. (You won't be sorry because he's also easy on the eyes)

Dr. Raichlen is one of the best professors outside my major I've had at the UA. He is enthusiastic, funny & an excellent lecturer. The tests can be tricky if you don't really study, but the grading isn't entirely unfair -- you will get points for answering part of a short answer correctly, unlike some other classes I've taken.

Attendance is not mandatory, but most of what he goes over in class are not on the lecture slides, so it is important to go to class. The tests can seem intimidating because they are 90% of the grade (3 tests @ 30% each, and while the multiple choice can be tricky the free response questions tends to be things he stressed in class.

The other comments hit the nail on the head- the tests are so random, with minute details making up the brunt of the multiple choice questions. The worst part is he always stresses before the exam to "focus on the concepts, i wouldn't expect you to know this, this, and that!" - lies. Haha. Beware if you are a stringent A-getter.

Great class, I loved the material so much it's become the focus of my senior thesis. Raichlen's very laid back, to the point where his lectures are interesting, but the content is a bit unorganized. The exams can be confusing, but attend lecture and you should be fine. Not too bad to look at either :)

Loved the class, he is a great lecturer. But I agree that the tests are the evil type of multiple choice on minute details. Still liked even though the B killed my GPA.

Raichlen, though an enthusiastic and interesting lecturer, provides little guidance towards areas of focus for exams and minimal clarity among some of the more complex issues. Though major points repeatedly covered in class often do not appear on exams, you will be expected to remember minute and marginally mentioned details. No book. Good luck!

Dr. Raichlen enjoys what he teaches so the class is interesting, but his lectures seem very sporadic and hard to keep organized. He's far more interested in his research than his teaching or student success though. If I took the class again I would prefer a different teacher that would engage the students with the information much better.

Loved his class. He's clearly excited about what he's talking about, and the material is really interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory, but don't miss too many or you'll be lost on the exams.
