This professor is awful. As others have said, too buddy-buddy with the frat boys and flirts too much with the pretty girls. Encourages mindless participation. Unfair grader; plays favorites. Disorganized, lazy, always late with papers, never says anything insightful about books. Also, I've read his poetry: it sucks. Emotional, flowery, unoriginal.

I took him for CC201 and CC202. Discussions can sometimes get repetative, but he's entertaining and really takes his time reading your work. He's a hard grader, but he's clearly the best professor in second-year Core Humanities. Since he's a poet, the poetry discussions were quite good. I would recommend him to anyone.

Great class. Farsi is hard and you have to put in a lot of hours but prof Tabatabai is awesome and you really learn. He takes in very slow first semester so it is not too overwhelming.

A somewhat difficult grader, but he takes his time to give you good feedback. He spends a bunch of time reviewing the lectures. He's pretty good about helping students out during his office hours. He's also hilarious and very entertaining. I'm taking CC202 with him next semester, and I'd recommend him to any incoming Core sophomores.

Seriously not worth the tuition unless you can get in good with him on the first day. Try agreeing with him. He likes that. WAY LATE with papers.

A lot of fun. Quizzes are pretty straight forward. Makes the class really enjoyable with all of his anecdotes which makes the class really relaxed. Great guy.

Going to his discussion section doesn't help you learn the material and he rarely gives students the change to comment during class. If you want to only get one paper back before the Final...take Tabatabai. I love Core and especially Humanities, but he made me loathe it!

Lit isn't my major, but his enthusiasm for the books is contagious and I actually found myself looking forward to class. Comments on papers were very helpful, read them if you want your next essay grade to go up. Really nice guy, approachable, and hilarious in class. I definitely recommend taking his class

Tabatabai is a really nice guy, hilarious in class. I'm not usually into literature but he gets you involved with his enthusiasm for the books. Very helpful if you go into office hours with questions about your paper. Great professor!

absolutely worthless as a professor. you learn nothing to further your knowledge of the books or writing skills. he skips class, and never gives your papers back. he encourages the obnoxious jerks in class. also: not attractive.

Tabatabai is a great guy I'd throw a few back with, but as a professor... He's friendly and helpful but its very difficult to find out what he wants (grade-wise). In class discussions he usually only likes to hear what he wants to say, and isn't very open to entertaining new ideas. He gives out a lot of B's and B+'s and it's very hard to get an A.

Tabatabai is laid back and nice. He will push the due date of papers almost every time, so you have plenty of time. He isn't the best at preparing one for the final exam, but he grades the papers fairly, nicely. Wants to hang out more than teach, but I would def advise the experience

Tabatatai is the main reason that I'm and staying in Core. Yup, he's that good. He makes the class interesting. Simple as that. Grade wise, I would say he's a fair grader, whatever that means at BU cause of the grade deflation. This guy even has his own Facebook Group started by his students. If you can get in his class, then by all means GO FOR IT

I love Tabatabai. He is the most enthusiastic teacher I have had in the core. He does fall way behind schedule (don't expect your papers back), but beside that little let down, he teaches concepts well and is really helpful. Tabatabai completes core

He may be easy on the eyes, but you´ll learn more on your own than in his class. The papers were easy. His class is not worth the tuition you pay. Don´t even take the Core. Read the books on your free time or borrow the lecture tapes if you have to. There are better ways to learn this material than in that four-semester hell.

He's cool that's all I can say. Don't expect the good grades you'd think on papers.He is late to class and falls behind schedule, but the good thing is that he lets you do the same so it's not a big deal. Your papers won't cause much problems, he'll just change the deadline if necessary. If you don't mind a laid-back teacher he's great

way too buddy-buddy with the students that like to still swear in class. on a one-to-one, he's not charismatic at all. only his favorites get the A's. basically, you're paying all that money for simple humor from a simple man. expect to learn nothing, and you won't be dissatisfied.

Slacker. ALWAYS 2-5 minutes late for class, didn't even show up a couple of times. Took forever to get papers back, quite unhelpful, discussed texts in the most superficial and useless manner possible. He's nice and funny, but not a good professor for the serious student.

Pr. Tabatabai is great at explaining the texts and his stories are absolutely hysterical. You just have to love him. But he is very vague in his paper assignments. I would still recommend him to anyone.

I disliked him as a professor. Vague paper assignments, unclear grading criteria, and took a ridiculously long time to get any work back to us. Sure he's a laid back, funny guy, but I did not learn a thing in his class, nor did my writing improve at all.

I've had Sassan for practically my entire Core career and I can't imagine it without him. He is the embodiment of core, he knows he's a dork, but he's so cool you have to respect him. His stories are amazing, and grading is fairly simple. Take the class!

Loved going to the discussions. Great teacher, felt more like a "friend" than a teacher. Very approachable, slow returning papers though. Don't expect to get a lot of writing tutoring out of this class. Really nice guy overall, and great in explaining the Core texts. But Core sucks! Don't take it!!!

He's really enthusiastic about the texts, down-to-earth, approachable, and funny. Talks about drugs a lot. Slow as he*l returning papers and they'll be covered in red pen even though you got a B+. So that's not helpful. But overall, I recommend his section if you can take it!

Worth the $40,000 to take his class alone. My favorite teacher of all time, he draws you into the books with his passion for them. Incredibly nice guy, engaging storyteller, and one sexy ****. Approachable outside of class, goes above and beyond his professorial duties.

Tabatabai is one of the best professor's at BU- so approachable, fair, and insightful. He has a way of getting to your soul and making you love what you read in class. And on top of everything, he's GORGEOUS.

Tabatabai is my favorite! I look forward to going to his class, even when I'm "tired". We definitely learn a lot, but the guy is just so freakin' hilarious that we often get sidetracked... ask him about the time he got mugged in Allston... funny stuff. Bottom line - take his class if you can!

I think he's a really nice man and means well, but is incredibly slow with papers. Class discussions are more "Tabatabai talks, you listen" than actual discussions. Grades fairly easily, which is a plus.

Sassan was a good seminar leader. He explained the texts thoroughly and the papers weren't too bad, not to mention that they were always extended.

Sassan rocks. He prepares you for tests well, class is interesting, he always has stories to tell, and papers are ALWAYS like double extended. You have to work on your papers, but he gives you a lot of comments to help you out. The guy just rules!

He is such a great discussion leader for the Core Curriculum! He goes over everything pretty thoroughly and makes it so fun at the same time. His bar stories are great, his jokes are hilarious, Mondays are always off, and it was SO FUNNY when he fell!

First of all, he gets a five on having awesomely cool hair. Secondly, he's as funny as they come. I enjoy his discussion section. He tends to grade harshly if you write from a different style point than he does. But he's intelligent and fun. Darn cute too
