Registration can drive you nuts, so we’ve come up with some tips to help you register like a pro:
1. Visit your advisor
Make sure you talk to your advisor before registration. Impress your advisor by coming to your session prepared with questions, and multiple scheduling options.
2. Plan out some backups
SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS and plan ahead! Make as many backup options as humanly possible. Even when you think you’ve made enough, make some more.
3. Register early
We all know the good classes fill up fast, so don’t wait until the last minute to register! Even if it means staying up late or waking up early, you’ll be thankful you did.
4. Talk to the professor
Visit a professor’s office hours to see if they’re the right fit for you. Bonus: If the class gets closed out, the professor might just let you in since you’ve already met!
5. Talk with your friends
Utilize any groups you belong to on campus to get as many opinions as possible. It could benefit you (and your GPA) in the long run!
6. Sit in on a class
Unsure if a class is right for you? See if you can sit in on a lecture to get a feel for the course.
Take a step back and realize that everyone is in the same boat as you are. Registration is insane. Inhale, exhale, and realize that soon enough you’ll have your schedule figured out.
8. Check out Rate My Professors
With reviews written for students by students you can see which professors to steer clear of and which to put at the top of your list. You can even use the Rate My Professors app to find the professor whose teaching style matches your learning style.
Good luck, and remember, you’ve got this!
