Pride Month is here, and RMP is celebrating by ranking the top LGBTQ studies professors in the country! Topping the list is Ardel Thomas, Chair of the LGBT Studies program at City College of San Francisco (a school considered a pioneering force in the development of the queer studies field).
Students describe Ardel’s lectures, which explore LGBT history and culture, as “awesome,” “thought-provoking,” and “hands-down, the best class I’ve taken” – other students say Ardel is “passionate about LGBTQ history,” and credit the top prof with “fostering community between classmates.”
Astrid Henry, Professor of Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies at Grinnell College, is a close second on the list – students describe her as: “enthusiastic, knowledgeable and just plain awesome” – others gush that her classes “changed my life” and “opened my eyes to so much.” Astrid teaches a number of courses that delve into sexuality and LGBTQ studies — her writings in the field of Gender Studies have been widely published.
