He has first-hand experience with the material, so he has cool stories that go along with what's taught. Attendance isn't mandatory (though there are a few pop quizes) but his class is so great you don't mind going. He's up-to-speed with world events and pop culture and uses it all in his lectures. Funny and can tell he is passionate about what he does. His tests were kinda confusing, but if you take detailed notes and do the projects then youll be fine. Not going to lie, they were pretty difficult and most of them are based off of information that you only get by going to class plus he does Tophat quizzes occasionally. TEST HEAVY LECTURE HEAVY Take MC2035 with him! if youre not willing to try for a good grade, you will not do well. definitely my favorite class this semester. This class is really cool and his lectures are always interesting. He always embeds videos for examples or discussion points. You'll see tons of cool ads and learn a lot. His lectures are conversational style. He uses tophat for quizzes that accumulate for a grade. No text book. He has worked at Disney and his experience shows in his lectures. He made the class fun, interesting, and informative. Visiting him after class or in his office was always great. Really interesting guy & discussion based lectures keep things interesting. Be forewarned that the test may throw you for a loop, he wasn't always clear about what he would test you on. YOU WON'T PASS. Barely any outside work. Just come to class, take good notes, and I assure you that you will pass! I loved listening to him talk about his past experiences, and he always taught me something new and interesting. The lectures are very entertaining, take good notes, especially on the videos because they will be on the tests. If you put forth decent effort you should be totally fine. Lance himself is super cool, and if you make an effort to get to know him and actually participate in the lectures he is more than happy to help you. The projects are easy, meaning it is impossible to get below an A on them. The tests are hard but if you read the articles and pay attention in class you should be fine. Tests were hard to study for, but there were only 2 and a non-cumulative final. Class always finished early, and his assignments were clear and direct. I enjoyed going to his class a lot. However, the tests aren't as common sense as the powerpoints. He really makes you apply what you know to real world situations. He curves every test so that helps out a lot. He makes the first test really hard but they get easier!! Great class. His first exam is tough and will catch you off guard but don't worry. Just do well on his three major projects (which are easy) take clicker quizzes and you will be fine. He gives very common sense lectures so its hard to take definitive notes for the exams. You will rely a lot on the readings and the quizlets.
