One of the best math profs I've had so far. Professor Mitchener is very caring and definitely wants to see his students succeed. His office hours are very flexible and he always works to find the best solution to your individual problems. You will need to complete the homework to prepare for tests, but he makes studying easy with test prep online.

He's a cool dude, but don't expect him to ever cancel class. His tests are easy because you get a cheat sheet for every test, but you still have to know the material. Super quiet also, couldn't hear him and I sat in the front of the class. Lots of hw but easy

Professor Mitchener speaks very quietly, make sure you sit close. There is a good amount of homework; but it really helps with studying. I didn't have to study much outside of the homework. His teaching style is very easy to follow, and he's always eager to help via e-mail or office hours. He's a great professor, and I'd love to have him again.

Super hard class! The hawkes homework is ridiculous. It takes hours to do each homework and if you get too many strikes you have to start all over again. The tests were hard. Sometimes taken from the practice tests other times over things we barely learned.

He's really kind but if you skip class, you'll be so lost. There is SO much homework on Hawkes & it's not easy either. It also counts for 25% of your grade. He's not awful but he wouldn't be my first choice.

Professor Mitchener is very helpful! The tests were difficult but as long as work was shown he gave points. Homework was on Hawkes but it helped a lot for the tests and was great practice. He provided practice tests which also was very helpful. Overall, you could tell he loves math and that he genuinely wants his students to succeed.

Dr. Mitchener is very nice and obviously cares about his students. However, I had a very hard time in this class. I would spend hours in tutoring each day doing homework's and preparing for tests and never did as well as I hoped. Granted, I've never been great at math, but the amount of time I put into this class just to do well was intense.

Honestly you have to be lazy to fail this class, even for those not good at math. 4 tests plus a final, weekly online homework and a few quizzes. Gives you so many opportunities to help you pass: handouts, cheat sheets for tests, half credit on late homework. Very kind and wants to see all students succeed.

Taught 3 chapters ahead and gave tests on material from 3 chapters ago. Only redeeming quality is that hawkes made it friggin easy to do homework on account of being able to redo work.

You can tell that he loves math and he knows what he's doing. He moves fast through the chapters. The hawks homework takes a long time to do. He does put practice tests online with the answers and those are usually exactly like the problems on the test. Very helpful if you need it.

I took calculus in high school and this class was so much easier. I enjoyed going to class because he made it simple to understand what he was teacher. 4 tests which were all easy, the final was a bit harder but only because it was not cumulative and mostly on the stuff at the end of the chapter and i did not study that as much. all in all good

Probably one of my favorite professors. He is so helpful! If you ever have a question, just ask and he will answer you. I did not have to study outside of class because he does such a good job teaching during class. The only downside is h/w takes forever. It helps prepare you for the tests, though. I would def. recommend him for Math 105!

Math has never been my subject- however, I tried EXTREMELY hard in this class-calc was my life for the entire semester. Mitchener is so smart that I found it extremely difficult to understand almost anything. He is considerate about partial credit on tests and go to class, do your homework (I did it like a week before because it takes HOURS)

I loved math before having this class and now i am just not happy about taking a math class!!! This teacher does not teach you teach yourself by doing the online homework that takes like six hours to complete. If you are trying to get a good grade but do not understand calc i would NOT recommend this teacher!Online HW is horrible and still has bugs

Dr. Mitchener's class wasn't too bad at all. It's calc so there's always one or two sections that are a little confusing, but ask questions because he will take the time to explain. Online homework counts for a huge percentage of your grade, so remember to always do it! Tests are always much easier than the reviews he gives.

I loved Dr. Mitchener! He is so adorable and one of the best math teachers I have ever had. Personally I do not enjoy math/really hate it, but he helped make everything so easy and understandable. He is so nice and considerate and even tells a math joke every Friday. Definitely take him he was wonderful! (But remember to do the homework.)

He is very clear and helpful in understanding the material, which is one of the most important components to a good professor. You will certainly learn a lot. His tests are challenging, so be prepared to know how to work with the material at a higher level than what is on the homework assignments.
