Often looking for a specific response to a class question or prompt/proposal and becomes snarky and condescending when she doesn't get it. Does not establish strong theoretical basis for core concepts. Inconsiderate about missing class, including for COVID in the middle of the pandemic. Has a lot of work and gives feedback so grade can be recovered

Thoroughly enjoyed prof zaloom. Her lectures were thought-Provoking and the readings she assigned were engaging and enjoyable to read. Her class was well structured and culminated in an archival project on the lower eastside. She's super easy - going, approachable, and shows a command of the subject material as well as her student's success.

Really, really smart but that often leads to her being confusing. I learned a lot and would take her again! Very helpful if you ask but if you make dumb comments, she will shut you down.

Literally has no idea what she's talking about 80% of the time. Is not helpful at all. Lectures go off on tangents and they go past when class ends. Boring.

She was so confusing! The material was difficult enough, yet she continued to not make the idea that the class should get from each text clear. She often said "I could talk about that subject for weeks" instead of simply letting us know what she felt was the most important ideas for the course.

There are a lot of readings and it is difficult to know which you will need to know for an exam. Doesn't respond to emails. Kind of rude (passive agressive) when you go to get help.

She was a great, young, and intelligent professor who knew/knows the material inside and out. She was always there when you needed her, and was enthralled by students going above and beyond the class expectations. I highly recommend Prof. Zaloom

My favorite professor at NYU. Always wearing a smile, always available during office hours and by email, and as the project she assigned on the ethnography of Occupy Wall Street proved, extremely in tune with current events that tie into material on the syllabus (and wanted us to be, too)! Highly recommend.

I've taken Professor Zaloom for three consecutive semesters. She is clear in her lecture materials, and if you come to class having ACTUALLY done the readings, then you will receive thoughtful and stimulating conversation. She has always been able to provide me with a new route of thinking when stuck on my assignments.
