Professor Ross is a funny guy at the cost of his politeness and focus. Lectures felt like an afterthought, often wasn't prepared to explain the concepts in an intellectual manner, often was condescending to students who asked very legitimate questions. When he explained the Final project to us it felt like he was learning the rubric right with us.

Long, monotone lectures. Tests are based around more of the application of information from the lectures but isn't explained very well in the lectures. Unless you are really interested in the content that is covered in the class I advise looking for another science class. He is really nice but you won't pass if you don't follow lectures.

He's nice and the class was easygoing. I'm not a science person so this was nice since the lectures were boring to me. There were 3 non-cumulative tests that are multiple-choice, 2 mini-essays, and 1 big research paper. He was a lenient grader on the mini-essays however STUDY because the tests are more complicated. He's a good instructor.

3 exams, 2 literature reviews, 1 final paper. Clear grading criteria, however, the material is hard. You will not pass if you don't show up to class and pay attention. Really funny guy though so it's worth it to show up anyways.

This was an easy course to take! everything was straight forward and very easy to understand. I got an A, there was no textbook required, 1 paper & 1 autobiography with 13 websites you must summarize and explain how it relates to the course and what you learned throughout the quarter. Not very communicative though, didn't reply to my email Its ok!

Professor Ross is great, and I'm now taking another class with him. His directions are always clear, and while the readings are a little dense, I really learned a ton about efficient academic reading from this class. He's a fair grader, and I found him to be very approachable and friendly. Don't slack off, and you'll do fine.

The readings are very dense and will not make sense if you are taking this and not a geography major. His labs do not really have much instruction and the little instruction that is given is not clear. I would try to take in person if you can or just steer clear overall.

Not sure why does this guy got poor ratings, maybe his in-class lectures are different than his online class. The course I took consists of 2 papers, 2 exams, and a final paper. No homework and no quiz, amazing. Wish more professors would be like this. 5/5

Terrible monotone lectures. Very unorganized and unclear. Doesn't mention the group project until the last week of class, and then expects everyone to go join some group last minute for a good grade. Terrible essay-based tests loaded with trick questions. Be prepared for thousands of pages of dry reading with no directions.

The class itself is a great course, but I didn't enjoy the way Alex taught it. He needs to work on his communication, organization, and lecturing skills. He has a tendency to be condescending and is not easy to approach. Also, his expectations for the paper/presentation were non-existent. Nevertheless, so vague and not a pleasant experience.

Alexander may be a little vague, however he grades accordingly. After our midterm, he gave every student an opportunity to improve their grade. Alexander is extremely understanding and a genuinely great person. Looking forward to taking another class with him next term!

As a teacher, he is a little vague. There weren't really any clear guidelines, but then again, he didn't know he was teaching this class until like 2 weeks before it started. I like the material and found it interesting. The readings were pretty good when I decided to read them. Overall, i enjoyed him as a person, but the class was setup poorly.

Over all vague, unprepared, unrealistic expectations of students, unclear lecturer, vague assignments, content complexity is low. If you need clarity and organization, I suggest you avoid classes with Professor Ross.
